Basic Trope: Food is served with weird ingredients.

  • Straight: Mary's Eatery serves pizza with blueberries and toast on it.
  • Exaggerated: Mary's Eatery serves pizza with earthworms, ceviche, and deep-fried oatmeal.
  • Downplayed: Mary's Eatery serves chocolate pizza; an unusual food, but something that really does exist.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted:
    • Mary's Eatery doesn't serve pizza with even the most standard toppings, like pepperoni.
    • Really weird food is served with traditional condiments on it.
  • Subverted: Spencer places an order for pizza with blueberries. Mary tells him that they don't serve it.
  • Double Subverted: But they do serve it with blackberries, which are equally weird to see on a pizza.
  • Parodied: Mary's Eatery has a huge array of pizza toppings, ranging from ones that are uncommon to inedible to straight-up impossible.
  • Zig-Zagged: Mary's Eatery has a big array of pizza toppings. Some are normal, some are weird, some are regional delicacies, and others seem fictional but actually do exist.
  • Averted: Mary's Eatery only serves pizza with normal toppings.
  • Enforced: "Let's add some weird ingredients to Mary's Eatery's menu, then we can sell those as a tie-in with Pizza Hut."
  • Lampshaded: "Welcome to Mary's Eatery! We know it might be weird, but blueberry pizza really is good!"
  • Invoked: Mary decides to add some non-standard toppings that she likes to the menu.
  • Exploited: Mary's Eatery gains a reputation for its weird ingredients, and becomes popular for those with weird tastes in food, or just those who enjoy being grossed out.
  • Defied: Mary's Eatery doesn't want to waste money supplying ingredients and toppings that customers aren't likely to order.
  • Discussed: "Have you heard that Mary started her own restaurant? What are you even going to be able to get there, toast pizza?"
  • Conversed: "Why doesn't any restaurant on this show serve normal stuff?"
  • Played for Laughs: Mary reads off a Long List of silly ingredients that are available for customers.
