Basic Trope: Zombies get run over with a car.
- Straight: During a Zombie Apocalypse, Alice gets in her car and runs over zombies that get in her way.
- Exaggerated: Bob drives a building-size Cool Tank and has crushed billions of undead beneath its treads.
- Downplayed:
- Charlie hits one zombie with their motorbike. The zombie is sent flying, but is still active.
- While many zombies get run over by a car, the vehicle eventually breaks down from the damage it's sustained running over them.
- Justified: Zombies lack the cognitive capability to get out of the way of an incoming vehicle, and getting out of your car to kill them one by one would be much too dangerous and take far too long, especially if you're in a hurry to get to some place, so simply running them over is the quickest and safest way to get rid of them.
- Inverted: Smart zombies are able to drive a car and run over survivors who wander onto the road.
- Subverted: Alice is seen driving at high speed towards a zombie, but the car simply passes next to it.
- Double Subverted: Alice then backs up into the zombie.
- Parodied: A zombie police officer is shown handing out fines to zombies for hanging out in the road, before getting run over himself.
- Averted:
- There aren't any zombies in the story.
- No one can even find a working car in the zombie apocalypse.
- Enforced: The scene is intended to showcase how Alice is a Badass Driver and how her skills can be valuable in the apocalypse.
- Lampshaded: "Of course there are zombies between here and there... good thing I'm in a car."
- Invoked: Bob builds a racetrack and lures zombies onto it so Alice can run them over.
- Exploited: Damian wants to get rid of Ellis, so he cripples him and leaves him on a road where he knows Alice will pass through so she'll run him over.
- Defied: Alice intentionally steers around the zombies on the road in order to avoid damaging her vehicle.
- Discussed: "Look at all these zombies! Are you going to run them over?"
- Implied: Alice's car is blood-stained and dented, but we never actually see her run over any zombies.
- Deconstructed: Bits of the run-over zombies get stuck in the car's mechanisms and cause it to break down.
- Reconstructed: Alice adds a wedge to the front of her car to minimize the damage zombies cause to the chassis and internals.
