Basic Trope: A villain who still has traditional morals like those of a parent.
- Straight: Emperor Evilz tortures people and blows up their homes, but makes sure his children have a good education, don't do drugs, and go to sleep on time.
- Exaggerated: Evilz kills anyone (and with Cruel And Unusual Deaths, to boot!) who so much as swears.
- Downplayed: Evilz isn't excessively strict or traditionalist, but loves his wife and kids.
- Justified: Evilz is a Knight Templar Parent who tortures and/or murders anyone he fears may be a negative influence on his children.
- Inverted: Evulz goes out of his way to corrupt children as young as possible, even his own.
- Subverted: Evilz only goes to church and campaigns against drugs to appear moral. He deals cocaine and summons demons in secret.
- Double Subverted: He never sells drugs to minors, and sends the demons after anyone who does.
- Parodied:
- Emperor Evilz kills a person for playing video games after 10 PM.
- Emperor Evilz lectures a group of people on the dangers of alcohol and drugs, despite them clearly being addicts.
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: Evilz does not have traditional values.
- Enforced:
- The author hates traditionalism and writes Emperor Evilz as a Strawman Political.
- The author wants to give Evilz a sympathetic trait, so makes him a family man.
- Lampshaded:
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Lord Bloodstone manipulates Evilz by threatening to harm his children.
- Defied: ???
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Deconstructed:
- Instead of being a sympathetic trait, this actually makes Evilz pretty cruel to his family. When his son comes out as gay and his daughter decides she wants to become an engineer instead of a housewife, he disowns them both.
- Alternatively, the reason this costs instead of earns him sympathy points is it makes him a massive hypocrite. He'll commit any atrocity against strangers, but won't stand for anyone uttering even a mild swear word in front of his kids.
- Reconstructed:
- Evilz genuinely loves his kids, and doesn't mind what their sexuality and ambitions are, even if he goes to extremes making sure they get into good colleges and don't do drugs.
- Evilz has lines he won't cross, no matter what. For example, he Wouldn't Hurt a Child, whether his own or anyone else's.
- Played for Laughs: Evilz demands his daughter Alice grow up to find a good husband, be a traditional devoted wife and have lots of kids, but he kills every guy she dates. Alice tells him he isn't thinking this through.
- Played for Drama: Evilz demands his daughter Alice grow up to find a good husband, be a traditional devoted wife and have lots of kids, but none of the guys she dates meet his old-fashioned standards of "good enough", so he kills them. When this leaves her single well into adulthood, traumatised and no longer daring to have a long-term romantic relationship, he acts like it's her fault for setting her standards too low.
