Basic Trope: A story begins with some kind of action sequence, but then pulls a Bait-and-Switch.

  • Straight: The Adventures of Bob begins with the titular character, Bob, going on an exciting adventure. It turns out that this was actually an Imagine Spot from the imaginative Kid Hero, Bob.
  • Exaggerated: The Adventures of Bob opens with something exciting happening Once an Episode, only to reveal it was some kind of Dream Sequence, Imagine Spot, or Proscenium Reveal.
  • Downplayed: There's a brief scene at the beginning of The Adventures of Bob which shows Bob going on an epic adventure, which is quickly revealed to be just part of Bob's imagination.
  • Justified: Bob is Mr. Imagination, and often likes to imagine himself going on adventures.
  • Inverted: Bob appears to be doing something mundane in the beginning of the movie, but it's soon revealed that it's actually part of a thrilling adventure he's on.

    • After we cut back to reality, Bob gets attacked by a dragon shortly afterwards.
    • It turns out that this was just a scene in A Minor Kidroduction. The next part shows Bob as an adult, going on an adventure.
