Basic Trope: A work that entertains and educates — almost always intended for younger children.

  • Straight: "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" is a show that has the main characters going on adventures while also learning many facts.
  • Exaggerated: "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" has a new plot every episode, and subjects that are taught include mathematics, history, English, different languages, and An Aesop.
  • Downplayed:
    • "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" is mostly intended to entertain, but does have some interesting facts and An Aesop in every episode.
    • "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" is mostly an educational show, but some plot elements are thrown in to be entertaining.
  • Justified:
    • The titular characters have powers relating to educational abilities, and so it's understandable that they'd demonstrate their powers as such.
    • The series takes place at a school or other learning facility.
  • Inverted: "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" is a comedy-based show that has the characters teach the viewers "facts" that are cartoonishly and blatantly untrue.
  • Subverted: In the first episode of "Alice, Bob, and Charlie," the three friends learn all about how to hide a body.
  • Double Subverted: This was actually a Getting Crap Past the Radar joke setting up an otherwise family-friendly episode devoted to learning about how animals use camouflage to hide from predators.
  • Parodied: "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" mostly just teaches a Space Whale Aesop or Spoof Aesop in every episode.
  • Zig-Zagged: Some episodes of "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" are dedicated to scientific facts, while others are just zany slapstick comedy.
  • Averted: "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" is just an entertainment show.
  • Enforced:
    • "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" is on a network for young children, such as PBS Kids, Nick Jr., or something similar, making this somewhat expected.
    • The creators wanted to make a show that was fun for kids to watch, but also wanted the kids in the audience to learn something.
  • Lampshaded: "Alice, Bob, and Charlie" has Parental Bonus jokes stating the three friends are Animated Actors who don't really like "this third-rate educational show gig."
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: "Alice Bob, and Charlie" argues that educational shows don't really work to teach kids and that they're better off with traditional education.
  • Reconstructed: But then the show concedes that they're better off with shows that try to teach something as opposed to pure entertainment TV.
