Basic Trope: A character hides out in someone's home - one resident has to keep the others from finding out.

  • Straight: Ordinary High-School Student Alex has to hide a Weredragon from his family while they heal from having been wounded in the tail in his room.
  • Exaggerated: Bella the Weredragon is healing from losing An Arm and a Leg. (Presumably with Healing Factor, because no Muggle could recover from that independently.) She can barely move - meanwhile, Alex's entire extended family has happened to come round for the weekend.
  • Downplayed: Bella can Feel No Pain (or at least very little) and only needs a moment to recover. While she rests in the kitchen, Alex has to provide a momentary distraction for his sister in case she tries to enter.
  • Justified: Alex's the only person within staggering-from-injury range who's also part of the Masquerade.
  • Inverted:
    • Bella's parents have to keep her from realising that Alex is hiding out in the family home.
    • Alex is a human trapped in a world of Weredragons and Bella has to hide him from the others so they wouldn't eat him.
  • Subverted: In The Reveal, it transpires that Alex's parents are also in the Masquerade, and in fact they knew already.
  • Double Subverted: In reality, they knew only that Bella was somewhere nearby, not that she was in their own house.
  • Parodied: Every member of Alex's family tries to get into his bedroom in turn. Each time, he makes up a more ridiculous excuse - and they buy it.
  • Zig Zagged: Alex is trying to administer a Healing Potion to Bella's stab wound, but he's so clumsy that he accidentally pours it down his own throat. All of it. It was designed for the more resilient Weredragons, so Intoxication Ensues. Bella ends up having to heal him.
  • Enforced: "This show is for kids. We need some kid characters in the next plot, because everyone knows the audience can only empathise with people exactly like them!"
  • Lampshaded: Bella points out how unlikely it is that Alex's bedroom - the most difficult place to hide - is the only place to hide, the ONE time she needs to.
  • Invoked: There are lots of other places Bella could go, but she would rather be with her boyfriend Alex.
  • Exploited: Shadowfang the Dark Dragonlord puts the bedrooms of all kids in the neighbourhood where Bella is operating under Sinister Surveillance.
  • Defied: Bella could stay at Alex's place, but he's such a Jerkass she decides to go back to La RĂ©sistance headquarters, keeping a Secret Stab Wound.
