     General
  • The world of The Silt Verses is, putting it bluntly, not a nice place. Human Sacrifice to appease the various gods of the setting is a fact of life in this world in the same way money is in ours, a common function of business and daily life. People can be killed by their employers or other authorities for any reason at all, hallowed into Body Horror monstrosities in constant agony that were once human.

    Season One

    Season Two
  • Episode 4 features Carpenter's one-woman massacre of Substation Perigloss, told from the perspective of Helen and Alf, two employees who slowly become aware that their coworkers are being picked off, one by one, leaving the two of them for last. The whole thing feels akin to a slasher film, with Carpenter as the killer.
  • Episode 6 has the death of Adjudicator Shrue's aides, Ana and Jeff, at the hands of a "Love-Saint." Though no detail is described on what it does to them,, the fact that we hear plenty brings all sorts of horrifying imagery to mind.
  • Episode 9 properly introduces the Carving Chapter, a huge, extended family that worships a small pantheon known as the Snuff Gods. Led by the self-proclaimed Reverend Toes, they treat slowly torturing four people to death, piece by piece, like a big fun family reunion weekend.
  • Episode 14 ends with Faulkner brutally beating Mason and Sister Thurrocks to death, for betraying their faith and working to get the Parish legalized. Made so, so much worse by Faulkner unhesitatingly framing Carpenter for the act, forcing her to go on the run once more to preserve his own power.

    Season Three
  • Val, Saint of the Last Word, a Liar God. Instead of the setting Standard Body Horror (though she does inflict that), she inflicts Mind Rape on her victims, rewriting their pasts.
    • Episode 4 of the season reveals that she has been inflicting this old women who remind her of her Mother, before forcing them to kill and mutilate themselves in revenge for her Mother letting her be Hallowed. In order to get Val to cooperate on the war front, the press secretary agrees to give her a phone call with everyone working at the compound where she was Hallowed. From the Doctors and Nurses to performed the proceedure to the people serving food there. And he also agrees to track down her mother so Val can perform her revenge on her actual mother.
    • Val's description of her Hallowing is also nightmare fuel, given the trial and error involved and that she forgot her own name.
