My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

The entire film is this, but Satan and the demon children are especially disturbing.

  • Honorable mention goes to the monster beneath the bridge and the face-morphing children who harass Judas, too.
  • While Jesus' torture is over the top, these methods were historically used by the Romans.
  • The whole flogging scene. Where to begin… how about where the soldiers pull out a whole line of torture devices and cheerfully decide which to choose first. The look on Jesus’ face says it all.
    • One soldier takes out a mere wooden stick and beats Jesus hard with it. Repeatedly. To the point of drawing a lot of lines of blood.
    • Then he gets to an actual whip, but one with small rocks attached to it. He tests it out on a table to see how hard it works, and it gets stuck. Once the soldier dislodges the whip, he briefly presses the whip against Jesus’ face. Then the flogging commences. It just goes on and on and on and on and on for well over 39 strokes.
      • The whip getting stuck onto Jesus’ ribs then forcibly ripped out. Arguably the worst part out of this whole flogging.
    • Another soldier orders the flogging stopped… and to flip Jesus over. The flogging thus continues onto the whole other side of the body.
  • The crown of thorns being pushed onto Jesus’ head with long wooden sticks to keep it in place. If that’s not as sickening to watch, just listening to the crushing sound it gives off is pure terror.
  • Unlike what the Bible stated, here Jesus falls for more than 3 times while He carries his cross, while still covered in heavy wounds as practically everyone is calling for His execution, while the other half of the crowd is tearfully pleading for His innocence.
  • The Nailing on the cross. It’s as bloody and gruesome as one would imagine.
  • A crow plucking out one of the eyes from the bad thief.
  • Mary Death Glaring the camera as she holds her son's body.
