Microsoft Silverlight is a web engine by Microsoft first released in 2007. Its early versions were focused on streaming media, with Netflix being one of its users, it later allowed for making animations and games. As NPAPI was discontinued and HTML5 video started becoming more popular, the engine had fallen into decline by 2012. Silverlight 5 has reached its end of life on October 12th, 2021.
