Yancha Gal no Anjou-san (lit. Naughty Gyaru Ms. Anjou) is a Seinen manga written and drawn by Katou Yuuichi for Young King, starting publication in August 2017, but having its route in short 2-page comics on the author's pixiv, some of which were included as bonus material in the collected Tankouban.
The series focuses on stereotypical nerdy 2nd year high schooler Seto, and how his attempts to study, or to fulfill various duties thrust upon him, are hampered by the teasing antics of his classmate, the gyaru Anna, and the two gradually grow closer. While these two form the main overarching plot, some chapters focus entirely on Inuyama, Seto's pervert best friend, and Toyoda, Anjou's cool beauty best friend, own gradually growing bond, as well as Big Eater Chita, Anjou and Toyoda's other best friend, and Tokio, Toyoda's younger brother with a longtime crush on Chita. Another major character is Komaki, the school nurse, who frequently advises Seto on his troubles.
The series has this far had 3 spin offs, all written by Katou and running in Young King alongside the main series. Anjou-san no Gakkou no Hokenshitsu no Komaki-sensei (lit. Anjou's School Nurse Ms. Komaki) launched May 2019 running through June 2021, focusing on the titular nurse's day to day, illustrated by Ayasugi Tsubaki. Yancha Gal no Anjou-san-tachi: Kou-1-hen, (lit. Naughty Girl Anjou & friends: 1st year) focuses on antics of Anjou, Toyoda and Chita during their first year of high school, illustrated by Suoishiro and running from May 2019 to September 2021. The 3rd spinoff , also by Suoishiro, started August 2023, entitled Komaki-sensei no Hoken Dayori feat. Yancha Gal no Anjou-san, (lit. Ms. Komaki's Dungeon Health Report feat. Naught Gyaru Ms. Anjou) sees Komaki appear in another world.
Yancha Gal no Anjou-san contains examples of:
- Animal Motifs: cats for Anjou. Aside from her love of cats and always wanting to let them when she sees them, she is also frequently depicted with cat-like features when reacting to something Seto has said.
- Childhood Friend Romance: Tokio wants this with Chita.
- Gyaru: Anjou, naturally.
- Hot for Teacher: Many male students are noted to have crushes of Komaki.
- Last-Name Basis: Everyone, except Tokio, because Toyoda was introduced first. Only Anjou is regularly referred to by her first name, Anna, and only by Toyoda, Chita and her mother.
- Like Brother and Sister: Chita views her relationship with Tokio like this. He very much does not.
- Location Theme Naming: All if the main cast have their surnames derived from cities in Aichi Prefecture.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: While certainly neither is unattractive normally, Anjou and Toyoda have both stunned their respective romantic interests when dressed up to go out together.
- Sixth Ranger: Tokio only appears 70 chapters in, but effectively rounds out the main group. However, because he is younger and goes to a different school, he is absent from school-based events.
- Slut-Shaming: Anjou has gotten this at times, largely due to her dress.
- The Tease: Anjou, towards Seto, teasing him with the possibility of a kiss, joking about doing "it" without a rubber, the list goes on.
