Jarastavens vandring is a Swedish historical fantasy book series about völvor, women possessing magical abilities, and are meant to protect their villages by acting as healers, oracles, priestesses, shamans and sorceresses. The series follows the völva Siri, her friends, allies and enemies, as they become entangled in a battle between good and evil.

It was written by a writer team called Saga Borg, and consists of 9 books.

The series contains example of:

  • Abduction Is Love: The books contains several examples. Since (at least some) villages tend to kidnap women from other villages to avoid inbreeding, then it is normal for marriages to start with kidnappings. Some of these marriages actually turn out well.
  • And the Adventure Continues: The ending reveals that the battle against Tertor and his followers continues.
  • Anyone Can Die
  • Bittersweet Ending: Tertor is sealed away, but the völvor fail in binding him, and almost anyone dies.
  • The Chosen Many: The seven "Daughters of the Light".
  • Dark Is Evil
  • Light Is Good
  • Magic Is Feminine: Siri's culture believes this. Ional's and Aithne's people don't.Though this seems to stem mostly from a belief that their powers are evil, and a fear of punishment from their Goddess, Urla, rather than actually finding it effeminate in itself.
  • Someone to Remember Him By: Happens several times. Not strange since the story setting is an era where plundering and warfare is a natural way of life.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Various character end up in this situation.
