Godzilla vs. Kong: Sometimes Friends Fight (But They Always Make Up) is a 2021 children's counting book released to coincide with the release of Godzilla vs. Kong. The book follows the titular Titans as they go through their playtime, encouraging young readers to count something on each page and learn how to be a good friend by following the Titans' examples.

Tropes present in this book:

  • Adaptational Nice Guy; Mechagodzilla shows up, and while he doesn't seem as friendly as Kong or Godzilla, it's clear he can be reasoned with, rather than being just a vessel for King Ghidorah to continue his omnicidal rampage.
  • Edutainment Show: Book, not show, but the book is advertised as being educational and helping children learn counting and life lessons.
  • Friendship Moment: As a counting book focused on two friends, most of the pages tell what a good friend does for one another. One example is Godzilla using his atomic dorsal plates to light up a darkened city for Kong.
  • Lighter and Softer: Given the target audience, it's obviously a much lighter story than the movie it's based on, or indeed almost any Godzilla media.
  • Mundane Utility: Neither Godzilla nor Kong can see in the dark, so Godzilla uses his glowing dorsal plates to light up the ruined city.
  • Never Trust a Title: Despite the name and subtitle, Godzilla and Kong don't really fight, and the book mostly focuses on them playing together.
  • No Endor Holocaust: The Titans' playtime should result in massive casualties, as they're seen in ruined cities and toying with military technology, but this being a children's book, this is brushed off.
