Ho Yay / Tiny Toons Looniversity

Go To

They're tiny! They're tooney! They're all a little fruity!

  • From day one, when Buster meets Plucky, his roommate at Acme Looniversity, the two fight with each other on who gets to keep the top bunk, and instantly they declare each other as frenemies, taking every chance they can get to compete and best one another. Because this show focuses on the relationships its main characters have with each other, this leads to an interesting dynamic betwen the two wherein many can spot the homosexual parallels.
    • The second episode "Give Pizza a Chance" already takes this up to an incredible extreme. Buster and Plucky at first butt heads because they both have different ideas on what they want to do with the money Dean Granny has granted them. However, they both come up with the idea to host a pizza party, and from there they instantly realize they have a lot more in common than they were willing to admit, staring into each other's eyes lovingly before shaking hands and hugging each other. It goes a lot further than that though, with Buster coming up with a ("friend")ship name for for each other (Pluster), and the two then proposing to be "pizza pals" with each other. Although naturally this friendship does not last long, and they are back to being frenemies at the end of the episode.
Buster Bunny: Plucky Duck, will you be my pizza pal?
Plucky Duck: Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!
    • This reaches its peak in the episode "SoufflĂ©, Girl Hey", where Plucky breaks down in tears in front of Chillest Cat after failing to impress him during the yearly tour of Acme Loo, saying that he's nothing without having a friend like Buster by his side, and without even so much as a single second thought, declares him a friend. He doesn't want to lose him.
Plucky Duck: [Buster is] not as smart or talented as me in a MILLION ways, do you REALIZE what a confidence booster it is to have him as my friend? PLEASE DON'T TAKE THAT AWAAAAAAAAAY!!!!
      • When Plucky tries carrots and grits at the end of the episode, Buster (who overheard Plucky crying along with the rest of the Tooney Five) rubs this moment in big time.
Buster Bunny: Enjoy, pal. Or, should I call you friend? Oh, I know, I'll call you my buddy!
Plucky Duck: Ugh... I should've never admitted that I like you. Expressing real emotion ALWAYS backfires!
    • Even when they insult each other, they sound romantic.
Buster Bunny: I don't need an evil clone! Not when I have a friend like Plucky, who's JUST as annoying, and only SLIGHTLY evil!
Plucky Duck: Yeah! ...Overly simplistic way to describe me, but I appreciate the attempt.
  • Sometimes the squabbling between Buster and Plucky also happens to include Hamton, their mutual friend who normally is not involved in the feud with the two. Although so far in the series, these moments involving all three of them or just between two of them are scarce.
    • Buster keeps bawling his eyes out when he sees that his friend Hamton, the roommate he feels at that point that he actually likes and gets along with, is moving to a medical school in "General HOGspital". He tries to keep it together in front of his pig friend, but breaks into tears saying goodbye to him once he leaves and is soon enough determined to get him back into Acme Loo. He even knits him a scarf moments before he leaves.
Buster Bunny: Good luck! Write whenever you can- no pressure though. If you're too busy to write, just write and let me know! Love you! Miss you! (bus leaves off) ....MY FRIEND IS GOOOOOOOOONE!!!!
    • Also in the episode "Save the Loo Bru", Plucky and Hamton's brief comments towards Buster in drag, with the knowledge that it is him:
Hamton Pig: Ga-ga-gorgeous! Not that that's important, I respect your brain, too!
Plucky Duck: You make a.. rather, convincing, shockingly attractive lady bunny..
    • In "Extra, So Extra": Although Plucky was merely only in it for making slanderous newspaper articles on the students of Acme Loo, this scene where Plucky is lulling Hamton to sleep and making him feel comfortable is definitely something.
  • As a stark contrast to Plucky and Buster's relationship, although to a lesser extent, once Sweetie meets Babs, her roomie at Acme Loo, the two immediately hit it off, dancing and dining with each other, and instantly becoming best friends throughout the rest of the series. They're always seen being close and friendly with one another.
    • In the first episode, Babs struggles with the thought of not being roommates with her brother, Buster. So she and Sweetie head over to Dean Granny's office to try to convince her to not separate them. Dean Granny does not give up easily, and they have an arm wrestling match for it. However, after hearing Dean Granny's taunts about how Babs isn't leaving her comfort zone, she darts over to Sweetie (who is not only cheering for Babs but also wearing pink bunny ears and a shirt that has her name on it), she smiles and lets Dean Granny win, realizing that she already has a good friend by her side.
Sweetie Bird: Hey, since we're doing secret whisper conversations, I wanted to ask: I know you threw that arm wrestling match.. but why?
Babs Bunny: Well I.. realized if I got transferred out of Merrie Melodies then I.. wouldn't be roommates with you anymore.
Sweetie Bird: (gasps, then bawls her eyes) Awwwwh, that's the nicest thing I ever heeeeard!!!!
    • In "Give Pizza a Chance", the two friends do enter their first squabble. After Buster points out to Babs that Sweetie is leaving their dorm a complete mess, Babs, being a complete Neat Freak spends the whole day cleaning up Sweetie's side of the room. When Sweetie comes back into the dorm, she is not happy, as her "messy" is actually her clean. The two argue with each other, though this reaches its peak at the pizza party where they both try to make the other jealous by hanging out with somoene they don't get along with too well (Shirley for Babs, Lil' Sneezer for Sweetie), with Sweetie visibily getting angrily upset seeing Babs hang out with someone else. After confessing their feelings about the situation to Hamton, they both realize they really do miss each other and work it out in the end and hug it out.
      • At the start of the same episode, the two sing a cute short song about how much they love each other. It's the most adorably sweet thing ever.
      • The same episode also has the two calling each other "resties" and "boomies" ('a roommate and a bestie' as Babs puts it) rather lovingly.
    • A short, brief moment, but in the episode "Save the Loo Bru", when Babs tries to get Sweetie to see how Dizzy being a messy roommate directly compares to how she felt with her, she immediately catches onto it.
Babs Bunny: Yeah! Dealing with messy friends can be challenging!
Sweetie Bird: I get it, Babs. You're talking about me.
Babs Bunny: Yeah. But I love 'ya.
    • In "Tears of a Clone", when Buster tries to invite a friend to a concert, Babs reveals that she already had "plans" with Sweetie (drinking an extra-extra-extra large looneyberry ice cream with her restie).
  • In the episode "Tears Of A Clone", Buster creates a clone of himself so he can have somebody to hang with when everybody else bails on him. There's alot of subtext herein, with one scene even showing them sleeping in the same bed together.
  • A technical example of this happens with Max and Buster in the episode "Save the Loo Bru". Throughout the episode, Max falls for Ruth Less, a tough lady who is actually Buster in drag. Of course, Max finds this out later in the episode, however near the end when he sees Buster (who at this point is not dressed in drag), he reacts lovingly, hearts in eyes and all as he cries out "My love!", before snapping out of it and instantly going "I mean- MY ENEMY!". He also willingly shows up to (and paid to see) the drag show between Buster and Bugs Bunny after the fact, however he is denied access to enter by Dizzy.
