Ho Yay / Sabikui Bisco

Go To

Milo and Bisco as they journey across the world together share incredibly heartfelt moments and deep feelings with one another.

     Bisco/Milo
  • Yes, Milo, we know Bisco is awesome and cute. Yes, Bisco, we know Milo is pretty and pure. Yes, Milo, we know Bisco is a good man at heart. Yes, Bisco, we know Milo is extraordinary. Yes, we know. Bonus points for the narrative painting them Like an Old Married Couple.
    • They're also always calling out to one another and worried for each other's well being.
  • When it really comes down to it, the two of them would gladly lay down their lives for one another, and are violently protective of each other.
  • For the anime, Bisco and Milo's voice actors sing the ending song together. The only time Milo sings alone is after Bisco's death.

Book 1

  • Bisco teaching Milo to shoot an arrow. This gets a call back when Bisco gets blinded as they fight Kurokawa in the giant's body with Milo pressing up against Bisco, telling Bisco to trust him.
  • When the two are resting with Milo prepping up dinner of fried pork, he gets annoyed at Bisco not resting like he told him to. Then when Bisco runs off again to chase Actagawa, Milo grumbles as he slices up the pork like an annoyed housewife. When Bisco returns, he acts like a guy trying to gauge how pissed off his girlfriend is and seeing if it was safe to interact.
  • As Bisco looks after Milo with both of them suffering through the rust, he has Milo's eyes covered. Milo blindly feels around for Bisco, afraid of the other leaving him. Bisco gently takes Milo's and places it over the skin that isn't rusted. Milo slowly feels around and keeps his hand there. Bisco jokingly asks how long Milo was going to keep his hand there. Bisco sounds so gentle as he looks after Milo with Milo begging Bisco to not leave him.
  • Milo tearfully begging for Bisco to not leave him even as he's burning in the lava and dying of rust. This leads Milo to draw his bow and quietly declare that he loves Bisco as he fires and arrow into Bisco.
    • Bisco's words to Milo sounds incredibly romantic in tone as well.
Bisco: I'll crawl out from hell to protect you.
  • After the battle, Milo basically rests his head onto Bisco's lap, looking at peace with himself. He then quietly asks Bisco to not leave him like that again. Reminder, this scene comes after Pawoo kisses Bisco.
Milo: I can really hear your heartbeat. We promised, didn't we? That we'd be together when we died. Don't... Don't leave me behind again, Bisco.

Book 2

  • The whole novel Milo acts like a Crazy Jealous Guy towards Bisco and is extra clingy with him.
  • At the start of the book, Bisco and Milo head to Shikoku where more Mushroom Keepers live. They ask if Bisco had brought a wife back. Bisco shoots it down saying Milo is his partner.
  • Fake Milo (who is a woman paired up with the Fake Bisco who is male) gets up close to Bisco and clings to him and whispers closely into his ear. Milo suddenly gets up and angrily tears her away from Bisco. His voice is even noted to have been more venomous than his usual self.
Bisco: Dude, why can't you always be that threatening?
Milo: Because I'm not always that angry.
  • When discussing Mushroom Keeper culture to Almi, Bisco admits that it's not true that Mushroom Keepers and their chosen partners stay united even when they die. Bisco promised the two of them would be together, even in death. All so he wouldn't have to see Milo cry again or feel alone.
  • As Amli sucks out the Rust from Bisco, she is practically plastered over him. Milo angrily shoots up and tries to drag the little girl off of his partner.
    • Earlier, when she tries to take a look at Bisco's missing stomach, Milo protectively gets in front of Bisco and yells that he'll look after him.
  • Amli tries to see if she and Bisco can become partners as well. Bisco immediately shuts her down saying he already has one.
  • After suffering through Kelshinha's possession, the only person who can calm Milo down without him reacting violently is Bisco.
    • Bisco refuses to leave Milo's side when he's bedridden and even attempts to forgo the mission to take care of him.
  • Milo's speech to Kelshinha, telling him he already has a god and will worship no other.
"You.. are...not...my...god. My god is strong. He will... never break. [...] I already have a god. And there's nothing left in me to devote to anyone else, because I already gave my everything to him."
  • Bisco was attempting to find a way to get rid of his immortality, so Milo wouldn't be left Milo alone again. Milo basically becomes an immortal himself through absorbing some of Bisco's Rust Eaters.
  • When the two believe they are going to die together, Bisco happily accepts their fate and consoles Milo.
Milo: I'm sure the two of us are headed for Hell, Bisco...
Bisco: ... Then let's swim through the sea of fire together. We can do anything, as long as we're together.
    • Amli even makes note of the two's close connection.
You can have only one partner... It's someone to whom your very life is connected. That is what you call a partner.
  • During their final battle, after seeing Bisco had finally retrieved his stomach, Milo asks for it and squeezes it in his hand. A payback for making him worried for Bisco's life. As Bisco yelps in pain Amli yells at the two to "stop flirting".

Book 3

  • Milo gets annoyed when Bisco won't pay attention to his ceremony and blushes when Bisco compliments him. Tirol even points out Milo's desperate need for Bisco's attention.
Tirol: I can't stand watchin' ya swoon over every word Akaboshi says! Ya gotta learn to fight back some more!
  • Milo and Bisco are descendants of Domnino Nekoyanagi and Apollo Akaboshi, who were lovers from 2080 and creators of the Rust. The love Domino and Apollo had for one another easily parallels to Milo and Bisco's relationship.
  • As they fall back to earth, prepared for this to be their last battle, Milo tears off Bisco's goggles and presses their foreheads together. The two smiling at one another.

Others

  • Kurokawa's first on screen interaction with Milo has him caress his chin and note how beautiful he is. Most of his other comments about Milo is noting the other's attractiveness.
  • In the novel itself, Kurokawa is noted to be looking at a photo of Bisco, "As if he were a young boy looking at a photo of his crush."
    • After he steals the Rust Eater from the group, he tells Bisco to consider this as his "engagement ring".
  • Hope who was once a part of Apollo's emotions before being torn apart from him, claims he still loves Apollo. While Apollo doesn't feel many emotions anymore, he still sounds sour over Hope betraying him and a bit regretful at destroying Hope.
Apollo: So tell me. Why did you betray me...? Why were you unable to stay by my side?
Hope: ...Be...cause... Because I loved you... Apollo. I loved you...
    Apollo: ....Good-bye, Hope.
