Heartwarming / Wait Till Your Father Gets Home

Go To

  • The fact that while Harry is not a Standard '50s Father nor a Bumbling Dad and Irma isn't Parenting the Husband and has her own flaws. But they still love each other - oftentimes the first thing Harry does when he gets home? Kiss Irma.
  • The first episode shows just how much Harry truly loves Irma. Despite all the misunderstanding and Irma attempting to 'win him back' (when he never had an affair), he takes Irma to the motel to confirm that yes, he did sleep in the car that night. But when he goes and drives home, he tells Irma he's taking her to a fancier hotel to spend the night with her.
    • Reinforced in the twenty first episode wherein Irma tries to find hers and Harry's marriage certificate - but since Harry cannot immediately say where it is, she starts having an Ironic Echo to George and Mona's tiff earlier. But Harry produces a frame with the Marriage Certificate in it - because he knew she would be looking for it. This implies that Harry did indeed learn a lesson and that he got it framed recently because he knew it was important and that it shouldn't be kept in a drawer.
  • In the episode where Irma thinks she's pregnant, there's the usual clash of values... but at the end? Alice and Chet say that Harry and Irma would still be great parents.
  • In one episode wherein Jamie is given a camera, he takes a picture of Irma in curls, not knowing how this can be seen as an invasion of privacy. But he says that he thinks Irma's pretty - even with curlers in her hair.
  • Chet and Prudence's relationship is actually pretty heartwarming. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long.
  • The twenty first episode depicts a newlywed couple having a tiff. When Mona's mother tries to fix her up with a doctor and their neighbour tries to tell George not to get back together, Mona gives her a "The Reason You Suck" Speech where she says "you can choose my drapes, but you can't choose the man I want to sit in front of at the breakfast table." Mona even says "But I LIKE being a sex symbol!" - because the most important thing? It's that it's her choice.
    • Even though George is beset by a woman who is portrayed as beautiful, he still remains loyal to Mona.
    • In fact, said woman even gets her own heartwarming moment - upon learning that the doctor that Mona's mother brought for a date was single, she takes him... to meet her roommate. Who had previously thought she lost her chance at getting in a relationship earlier in the episode.
