Story

  • Berengaria, who was recently cleansed of the magick of control after the liberation of Soldraga, reconciles with her brother, Travis, and tells him the truth behind her joining Zenoira. She wanted to get stronger so that she could overthrow Zenoira and not lose another family member again, she even thought kicking Travis out of the Tricorn mercenary group would keep him far away from the war. By the end of the scene, she promises him that she'll never push him away again and the two hug. This is mitigated by their first rapport conversation showing Travis still has issues trusting her, but the scene is powerful all the same, or even more due to it not being a quick fix.

Rapports

  • In Rapport conversation with Mandrin, Alain notices the ex-thief giving his share of food to a child. Mandrin then tells the prince how, due to growing up with no money to his name, he would eat grass from the field to fill his stomach with something. But, once in a while, some travelers would share some bread with him. This made him promise himself that, if he gets to reach adulthood, he's gonna do the same.
    • Alain lectures Mandrin on how he should take better care of himself. He shrugs it off, saying "worst comes to worst, there's always the grass". Alain's answer? That he, too will then give his food share to children and join the grass feast with Mandrin. He further elaborates to the shocked archer that, once he becomes king, he will make sure that no one will go hungry... but only by trying the bitter taste of grass can he begin to imagine the pain of starvation. So he asks Mandrin what types of grass are safe to eat, which he is more than happy to explain.
  • In a conversation between Josef and Alain, Josef convinces a stressed Alain to go to bed and even tucks him in. Alain nods off quickly and Josef comments that he can still see the little boy he raised in Alain's sleeping face. Then he chides himself for slipping up and calling himself Alain's father earlier, even though Alain clearly thinks of him that way.
  • Alain and Hodrick's rapport show that Alain thinks of Hodrick as a Big Brother Mentor. He reminiscences on how he looks up to Hodrick and how, as a kid, he wanted to grow just as tall one day. They fondly recall a memory of when Hodrick lifted little Alain up to see over the balcony railing, so he could enjoy the view of the castle town. While Hodrick got scolded for putting Alain at risk, they agree that the moment made them both really happy.
  • Alain and Lex's final rapport conversation, which also overlaps with Tear Jerker. The two visit the grave of a dog, named Cape, that they used to play with as children. She died suddenly one day and was buried by Lex, who had refused to tell Alain what happened. Lex finally explains that he was attacked by a bandit and that Cape sacrificed her life to protect him. It was then that he started to take his training more seriously, so he could be strong enough to save those who mattered to him. Alain comforts Lex and they lay some of Cape's favorite snacks on her grave.
  • Yunifi accidentally calls Ramona "Mom", to her embarrassment. After reassurances that Ramona also sees her as a daughter, having looked after her for eight years, Yunifi happily and intentionally starts calling Ramona her mother.
