• "Get-Away for the Students" ends with Sandbar thanking Twilight Sparkle for helping him meet his new friends.
• In the chapter called "Earth", Sandbar is quite happy because his foalhood friend, Comet Trail is coming over to visit, and Sandbar is very eager for him to meet his new friends.
  Sandbar: I was just thinking of when me and Comet were colts together. Before he and his family moved to Canterlot, he'd always come to me with some kind of new magic trick he'd learned. His parents always encouraged him to try out his magic, and he always showed off to me to show what he could do. I was amazed by his magic. The way he made things float, the way he'd shoot rocks with some simple magical laser... it was all great stuff back then.
  • Then Sandbar begins to feel sad because he's an Earth Pony who cannot fly like the pegasi or use magic like the unicorns, then Yona gives him some reassurance, reminding him that Fluttershy doesn't need to fly when caring for animals, Pinkie Pie doesn't need her earth pony talents to make a party and Rarity doesn't need her magic to make dresses.
  Yona: Friend Sandbar may think being earth pony is no good... but that not true! Ponies do great things no matter what kind they are! Same too for Yaks! We Yaks no fly like Dragons, and we no have magic like Hippogriffs or Changelings...but we strong and fierce! We no need those things to be happy with who we are! Never have done! Sandbar special without wings or horn! Sandbar special because he is good pony! No need magic or flying to be good pony, or good friend! [Embraces Sandbar] Sandbar no feel sad! Sandbar can do amazing things too! So no need for sad, friend Sandbar!
  Sandbar: Thanks, Yona. I...I guess I just needed to hear that from a friend.
  Yona: Friends help each other! Lift each other up! [Lifts Sandbar over her head] See? Lifting friends up!
• Ocellus' friends sticking up for her when Comet Trail begins to insult her due to his bad history with the Changelings.
  Yona: Changelings no monsters! Changelings friends! Ocellus friend!
  • When Comet asks Sandbar to go with him to somewhere with other people, Sandbar refuses and sticks up for Ocellus like his friends.
  Comet Trail: Sandy... You're not seriously telling me you'd rather be with them than me?
  Sandbar: Comet...these are my friends. And Ocellus? She's even more than that. They are some of the nicest, kindest people I've met in my life. They did not deserve to have you say all those things. And so I ask you... to apologize for what you said.
• "A Family Visit" centers around Silverstream reuniting with her family, starting with her little brother, Terramar.
  Silverstream: Terramar! [Embraces her brother]
  Terramar: It's good to have you back, Silverstream.
  Silverstream: So, how have you been? Have you made any other friends yet? How's Mom and Dad?
  Ocean Flow: You can probably ask us yourself, sweetie.
  Silverstream: [Hugs her parents] I have so much to tell you guys! It's been so much fun at the School of Friendship! Oh, you wouldn't believe the stuff that's happened over there!
  [Ocean Flow and Sky Beak both smirk as a newcomer covers Silverstream's eyes with her fins]
  Queen Novo: Guess who?
  Silverstream: Oh! Um...Joe the mail-pony? No! Old Lady Doris? Oh! Maybe you're that fish I passed by on the way here?
  Queen Novo: Oh, for the love of... [Removes her fins from Silverstream's eyes] You haven't changed a bit, little Silver.
  Silverstream: AUNTIE NOVO! [Moves in for a hug, only for Ocean Flow to stop her] Oh! Right! [Bows to Queen Novo] You honour us with your presence, my Queen.
  Queen Novo: Oh no, none of that! Come over here and give your Auntie a hug!
  Silverstream: [Hugs Queen Novo] Wait...if you’re here, does that mean...?
  [Princess Skystar appears]
  Silverstream: SKYSTAR!
  Skystar: SILVERSTREAM!
  Silverstream: IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!
  Skystar: YOU TOO!
  Silverstream: HOW'S LIFE?!
  Skystar: IT'S BEEN GREAT! HOW'S THE SCHOOL!?
  Silverstream: ALSO GREAT!
  Skystar: WHY ARE WE SCREAMING?!
  Silverstream: WHY NOT!?
  [Silverstream and Skystar both hug]
• Silverstream and Ocellus helping Yona learn how to swim.
  Yona: Thank you, Ocellus. And thank you too, Silverstream. Yona no worried. Yona has friends with her.
  Ocellus: Yes, you do, Yona... Yes, you do.
• In the chapter known as "A Bad Lesson?", Sandbar and company tell Twilight what happened when Comet Trail reunited with Sandbar and began to act disrespectful towards Ocellus, leading to Twilight and Rainbow Dash talking with them to make them feel better.
  Twilight: Sandbar... your friendship ended for a reason... a good reason. Comet hurt you, and more importantly, he hurt someone you cared about. You have every right to be angry with him, and to not want to see him again. I believe in friendships enduring... but if you've decided that you don't want yours to continue... I cannot call you wrong for choosing that. If you were worried that you were being a bad student of friendship... then please know... you're not. You stood by them. People you hadn't known that long... yet you stood up for them even in the face of one you once called friend. You did something a true friend would do, and for that... you should be proud of yourself. [Turns to Ocellus] And Ocellus... words can never make right what was said to you. And since it's unlikely Comet himself will say this... let me offer you my profound apologies for the way you were treated.
  Ocellus: Thank you, Princess. I... I'm grateful to you for that.
• Smolder and Gallus apologizing for their fight in "Coming Clean".
  Smolder: Well, since we're stuck here... I'm... sorry for shoving you earlier.
  Gallus: Yeah... and I'm sorry for being difficult and annoying and making you want to do it.
  (Gallus and Smolder smile at each other)
  Smolder: Still friends?
  Gallus: (Chuckles) Yeah, still friends.
• Granny Smith rewarding Smolder with an apple for doing such hard work in "Community Service".
• In the chapter called "First Time", Ocellus tries to look more beautiful to Sandbar by disguising herself as a beautiful mare, but Sandbar tells her that she doesn't have to look like a regular pony for him to love her.
  Sandbar: Did... did you think I wouldn't want to try this with you if you looked like... you?
  Ocellus: Maybe.
  Sandbar: Ocellus...you don't need to change to try and make yourself look pretty. Because... because you're already pretty.
  Ocellus: You... you're just saying that.
  Sandbar: No... I mean it! The way your eyes sometimes glitter, your beautiful wings, the... the smile you have. When I said you were already pretty... I meant it. And prettiness isn't all that would make me want to be with you, Ocellus. The drive you have to do well... how happy you are at everything you've seen since coming to Ponyville... the... the fun we've had together since we started dating. All of it... I would want to be with you... because of you.
  Ocellus: And you... you've made me feel so welcome since I came here, Sandy. When I'm with you, I... I feel safe. You've not just made me feel like a friend... you've made me feel... so much more than that. I... I really am lucky that I met you.
  • This leads to the two of them sharing their First Kiss together, with Ocellus surprising Sandbar by quickly leaning forward and pressing their lips together. Though surprised at first, it doesn't take long for Sandbar to kiss her back, and they both agree it was better than they had hoped. After some quick flirting from both of them, and checking to make sure they are still in private, they agree to kiss again.
• Trixie hugging Yona after hearing her kind words about how performers can make acts better.
• Sandbar stopping his friends from fighting over which of them is his best friend.
  Sandbar: Guys...I have no best friend, okay? I have five.
• Sandbar deciding to take Ocellus' advice to try and reach out to Comet Trail after what happened the last time they met.
  Ocellus: I know I'm asking for a lot...but remember...Neighsay hated people like me more than any other pony. He viewed us as nothing but a threat, a danger to ponies and to Equestria. ...And at the end... he saw that we were none of those things. If a pony like him can change...then maybe Comet can too. I'm not asking for you to be friends with him again. I'm not asking you to forgive him, or forget what he said. I know I certainly can't. I'm just... asking for you to see... if he can change.
  Sandbar: I'll find him... and I'll try to speak to him. I won't promise anything will happen... but I'll try.
  Ocellus: Thank you.
  Sandbar: Please remember... I'm doing this for you... not for him.
  Ocellus: Understood.
• In "Wounds", Sandbar and Ocellus pay Comet Trail a visit in hospital after he was injured during Cozy Glow's attempt to drain all the magic from Equestria. It is here that Comet finally apologizes to Ocellus for his mean words towards her.
  Comet Trail: Ocellus... I'm... sorry...
  Ocellus: What?
  Comet Trail: [Sighs] I'm... sorry. Sorry for what I said. To you... and the others.
  Sandbar: Why are you saying that?
  Comet Trail: It used to be so simple. Ponies were good...and others were bad. Dragons, Changelings, every creature we would find in the world. All of them...bad. At least...that was what always seemed to be the case. But things aren't that simple anymore. A pony took my magic. A pony was responsible for me being hurt. A Changeling helped to save us...and a Changeling brought our magic back. I... was wrong. That's... all that needs to be said. [Chuckles dryly] Besides... it was you who convinced Sandbar to come and visit me. So... maybe he was right to see something special in you after all.
  • Even though Ocellus' hopes of Sandbar and Comet being friends again were dashed, at least Sandbar's last memory of him wasn't a horrible one.
  Sandbar: Ocellus...if it wasn't for you, I would have only ever remembered Comet as something painful. Something that made me angry. Now, because of you... I think I can actually move past that. He and I may never be friends again... but we're not enemies. And that... that matters. So thank you. [Kisses Ocellus]
  Ocellus: I'm... glad I could help.
• In the final chapter, "Homecoming", Sandbar introduces his friends to his family, starting with Ocellus.
  • Unlike Comet Trail, High Tide (Sandbar's mother) has absolutely zero problems with Sandbar dating a changeling. She even goes so far as to hug her.
  • Ocellus showing Coral Currents (Sandbar's little sister) her shapeshifting abilities.
  Coral Currents: Are you really a changeling?
  Ocellus: Well... um... yes?
  Coral Currents: Is it true you can change into anything? Like a beaver? Or a butterfly?
  Ocellus: [Pats Coral on the head] I can indeed. Would you like me to show you? [Transforms into a copy of Sandbar] Ta-da! [Returns to normal]
  • Sandbar's father telling Sandbar that he's proud of him for stopping Cozy Glow's plans to drain all of Equestria's magic.
  Sandbar's Father: I am so proud of you, son. Your Mother and I always knew that you'd do well at that school... but to become a hero? Now that's something!
  Sandbar: Thanks, Dad.
  Sandbar's Father: And you, Ocellus? You've been a good friend to my boy. I want you to know that you're always welcome here.
  Ocellus: Thank you. And believe me... I'm happy to have a friend like Sandbar in my life.
  • At the end, the rest of Sandbar's friends show up. Coral Currents shows great interest in Yona and Smolder, and Silverstream helps High Tide prepare more drinks.
  Sandbar's Father: You're pretty lucky, son. You've got yourself some good friends here.
  [Ocellus looks at Sandbar lovingly]
  Sandbar: Yeah... I really do.
