  • "Don't Write Me Off," Alex's first attempt as writing a song entirely on his own. As he admits, they're pretty awkward, but it's only because he's being completely emotionally honest about his feelings towards Sophie and how sorry he is that he upset her.
    Sophie: That was dinner.
  • Alex explaining why pop music is so powerful to Sophie:
You can take all the novels in the world, but none of them will make you feel as good as fast as "I've got sunshine, on a cloudy da-ay..."
  • "Way Back Into Love," when taken at face value, is a genuinely sweet song.
  • Alex reluctantly agrees to go to dinner at Gary and Rhonda's when Sophie asks him to, as Rhonda is a big fan of his. Then there was him allowing Rhonda to take a picture of herself with him when they first met.
  • After disagreements over Cora's hyper-sexualized take on "Way Back Into Love" cause him and Sophie to split up, Alex convinces Cora to record the original version by telling her that doing so will win back Sophie's affection. And it works!
  • Cora smiling at Alex's and Sophie's Concert Kiss in the wings.
  • Chris and his daughter sharing a smile at Cora's concert at the end.
  • Chris' date Gloria helps Sophie to clean herself up, and even swaps clothes with her, so Sophie can feel more confident when she confronts Sloan Cates. The confrontation ends up being a bust but Gloria squeezing Sohpie's hand and wishing her luck is still very sweet.
