Heartwarming / Magical Diary

Go To

  • The main character helping Virginia try on different things at the mall to help her relax about her self-image.
  • The letters Damien writes you, after he's forced to flee from the school. You have no way of getting word back to him and he doesn't ask for a response. All he does is offer you material wealth, world conquest, power...basically anything you want, if you'll just let him be yours. They are a little unhinged, but to be fair he did lose it a bit after he realized how he really feels about you.
  • Damien's actions if you give in to Ellen's blackmail and end up breaking your promise to dump him. It's the only one of his endings to make it clear that he's motivated by genuine feelings for you as a person, as the situation means there's absolutely nothing for him to gain from manipulating you any further. He not only takes you to a place of safety, but he promises to help you regain everything you lost as a result of that broken promise. Too bad it also happens to be the worst ending for his path, and the only one to give the "Walking in Darkness" trophy.
  • William, shortly after Damien flees the school. He knows exactly what you're going through, even if Damien didn't betray him the same way. He doesn't offer you pity, the way Virginia and Ellen do because they warned you so often about Damien. He's just sympathetic.
William: Do you need a hug?
    Mary Sue: ...yes?
    • He is, if possible, even kinder to the Wolf Hall protagonist after Damien's betrayal. This makes sense, as he likely feels responsible for the whole affair, given that he was the one who initially pointed Gary in Damien's direction (though he obviously wasn't intending for things to happen the way that they do). He not only offers you a hug, he opens up about his own breakup with Damien, and goes out of his way to try to show you a good time at the May Day Ball.
  • Going to the May Day Ball with Virginia. She's just so sweet.
  • A large portion of Donald's path is made up of these moments. The Big Damn Kiss is particularly heartwarming for how ordinary it is, not to mention the conversation that precedes it.
Donald: I...I don't know a whole lot about romance, but you know that you're my best girl, right? If I find a pirate ship, you're the one I want to sail it with.
Mary Sue: Will you hurry up and kiss me already?
    Donald: (grins) Gotcha.
  • Likewise, the scene wherein, if you're married but still pursuing Donald, he promises that he'll wait out the year-and-a-day for you to be free so you can be together.
  • The scene where Ellen asks you if the romantic Valentines card you sent her was real; if you choose to panic, she smiles warmly and calms you down, telling you that she likes you too.
    • The scene in Wolf Hall where Virginia finds you and Ellen having a conversation in their room is both funny and sweet, as it leads into the two of you making your relationship official.
  • On Professor Grabiner's path, the conversation with him late in the game about just why he comes down so hard on his students - to protect them, because he's seen first-hand how horrific the consequences of reckless magic use can be, and he'd rather be roundly disliked and feared by Iris Academy's entire student body than let a single student lose their life.
Grabiner: Once snuffed out, thy light, I cannot give it vital growth again.
  • On Pastel's path in the sequel, Gary reaches out to his old friend out of worry, even though he knows deep down it'll cost him his relationship with his new girlfriend.
  • In the second game, if you win a seat on the student council, Kyo turns up at your door to rant at you about "stealing" Minnie from him; however, he concludes by saying that if you are what she wants, he will back off and telling you that he expects you to "treat her like a princess." A relief for Minnie fans, and heartwarming in its own way, as it shows that he does genuinely care for her, at least to some extent.
