When the PC passes an exam, they're greeted with congratulations from Professor Potsdam, while if they fail they are teleported out of the exam dungeon and given a scathing lecture by Professor Grabiner. At first blush, this seems to be another way of setting Potsdam up as the cool, supportive teacher and Grabiner as the Jerkass who hates you, but considered in a different light, it's one of the first clues about their respective attitudes toward teaching: Potsdam is happy to congratulate the PC for managing to figure things out on their own, but Grabiner is the one actually monitoring the exam and ready to save students that end up in over their head.
Fridge Horror:
Ellen's family seems to gradually forget that she's important to them. So does yours. And this is considered the kinder option for preventing them from breaking the Masquerade. Although, Ellen's route implies that her home-life was never super-happy to begin with. As for Mary Sue, it's somewhat up to the player to interpret how distant she becomes from her family; certainly, she doesn't seem to miss them very much once she becomes embroiled in the game's plot.
If things play out a certain way, Minnie's absences from later study sessions make a lot more sense when one understands her boyfriend problems...
And you find out things are a lot worse for her in Wolf Hall. Not only is the Kyo thing still an issue, but she's running herself beyond ragged trying to ingratiate herself with everything and everyone so she can eventually move into a position where she can push for magical reform for wildseeds because of what happened to her mother.
If you break your promise to Ellen at the end of Damien's route, you are automatically stripped of your magic because of it. Virginia and Jacob made a binding agreement to get married when they turn 18 that they've completely forgotten about...
In Wolf Hall, if you're on Damien or William's routes, Damien takes you as a hostage and offers William a sadistic choice: either he willingly gives Damien his soul, or Damien will take yours instead. The horror comes in when you realize that Damien was waiting for years for William to get over what Damien did to him in their freshmen year and finally open up to someone again, just so he could force this choice on him.
