"How should I say this? The prince is a keen observer. [...] He really sees through you. And yet, no matter how terrible or embarrassing your secret may be, he never passes any judgement. He simply says, 'Is that so?' and accepts you the way you are, flaws and all. And I cannot help but think... he is a man with a big heart."

  • Even at his most dense or reckless, Wolfgang only wants the best for Soohyuk - and in turn, while Soohyuk is evidently still getting used to the fact that the man he eventually comes to love sees him as a person instead of a Lust Object, he manages to make some progress on his own just by admitting that he cares about Wolfgang at all, even while spending years in an environment where things like trust and basic respect were luxuries and he was fully prepared to use anyone who got close to him for personal gain.
    • Chapter 22. All of it. Soohyuk finally admits to himself that for all his reservations, he wants to become closer to Wolfgang, and they end up sharing a Dance of Romance under a gazebo, away from the rest of the ball. It's one of the few moments they truly have to themselves in the entirety of Season 1.
    • On a more subtle note, when Sys tells Soohyuk he has a message from Wolfgang, the latter blushes slightly when he asks for what it is. Years have passed by this point, and although Soohyuk may not know the true extent of his own feelings by this point, they haven't wavered.
  • Wolfgang's relationship with Dandelion is also pretty sweet. The first time he hears about the kid, he's all too happy to dismiss him as another Royal Brat like his brothers, but upon seeing that he's actually a perfectly sweet (if not extremely sheltered) ill boy who's been thrown into a metaphorical lions' den, he takes it upon himself to guide Dandelion; after the time skip, it's even all but outright stated he wants to take him on as an apprentice of sorts once he reveals the true extent of the royal family's corruption to him - which, of course, makes it all the more heartbreaking when Dandelion turns up dead the next day.
  • The fact that the Framing Device for the first episode of Season 2 is a letter that Soohyuk is writing to his mother, reassuring her that the old king's reign is over and that the new monarch is especially careful with him. It's a small detail, but it's comforting to know that Soohyuk is attempting to reach out to his family after years of not being allowed direct contact with most of them.
  • It may not be exactly what Soohyuk needs from Wolfgang in their relationship, but his internal monologue about wanting to be the best version of himself he can be for Soohyuk is undeniably heartfelt regardless:
Wolfgang: I wish to do the best I can in his eyes. And since what he wants is a benevolent king, I wish to do my best to clad him with the virtue of such a king. If it is a flower he wants, I will become that flower. If it is a bird he wants, I will attempt flight. [...] If I can accomplish this without shedding a single drop of blood, and by simply donning the clothes of a king, then that is an easy price to pay.
    • Said internal monologue concludes with him putting a flower behind Soohyuk's ear. It's a corny move, but so earnest that it loops right back around to being purely romantic.
