Heartwarming / Crusader Kings II: Game of Thrones Mod

Go To

It may be the literal game of thrones, but there are still moments that can warm your heart.

  • One of the plots you can do against a slave is to free them from captivity. You can use this to save a friend or lover or kinsman who has been enslaved, you can also use this to save slaves whom you have never met before in your life. Imagine what the latter case must seem like from the slave's perspective: you have been a slave since birth, you might have given up hope of being anything else, you might have suffered immensely under your Master, and then one day out of the blue armed strangers offer to help you escape. They take you out of the holding cell, take your chains off, and take you to a lord who orchestrated this rescue. He tells you that you are free now, and that he organized your rescue out of the goodness of his heart.
  • When playing as Robb Stark, you can bring Sansa and Arya back to your court after rescuing the former and finding the latter.
  • Eddard Stark can successfully escape from King's Landing and avoid his unfortunate fate in canon. This means that the Stark family will be kept whole, defeat the Lannisters during the War of the Five Kings and prevent the Red Wedding from ever happening.
  • Many players use the House Customizer trait to make their own additions to the Great Houses. Given that, due to game mechanics, these new characters have to own land, it gives them quite a bit of pull within the family. A popular option is Tywin's Lannisters, giving Tyrion a truly sympathetic sibling and doing their best to keep Jaime and Cersei from driving the realm to war.
