Harsher in Hindsight in Lonely Wolf Treat.

  • Trick's "Did you really abandon me too?" comment while they're at their master's house. It seems to refer to Treat at first, but a Q&A strip in the webcomic reveals they were abandoned by their biological parents, making the comment a lot sadder.
  • Moxie's failed attempts to flirt with Treat and Mochi are Played for Laughs at first, but they become less funny once it's shown that it affects her already pummeling self-esteem badly.
  • Another one concerning Moxie is a specific interaction in "Friendly Bunny Mochi" triggered by checking Mochi's mailbox while accompanied by Moxie. Upon seeing the money sent to Mochi by her parents, the fox girl is left in disbelief over how Mochi doesn't like being pampered by her parents. It's played off as a joke that Moxie is greedy, but the revelation of her horrible relationship with her mother in the following game casts a different light on this.
  • In chapter 1, Treat asks Boreas if he saw any other wolves during his travels, and Boreas says he probably wouldn't be standing there if he did. Treat is worried by this at first, but then concedes that yes, the wolves might have tried to eat him. In chapter 1's bad ending, the first dead rabbit is implied to be Boreas. And Treat herself gets to eat him.
  • Anyone who thought Mochi looks adorable because of her bangs covering one eye will likely cringe at the revelation that she was using them to hide her heterochromia that made her a target of bullying by other rabbits. And she did this because Juju told her to as well. Yikes.
  • Juju's speech to Mochi in the second chapter about how many friends and family members they lost to predators in past years. You'd think the revelation that Juju's father Mango being alive this whole time makes the speech a counterargument against Juju, but the hurt of the Dramatic Irony is more overwhelming.
  • Because she doesn't seem like the usual type of characters associated with it, Candy's Ear Notch would seem like something she was born with as a subversion of the tropes. The secret ending shows that she got it from fighting off the old pack's leader, who tried to stop them from leaving. Ouch.
  • In Treat's "What's your type?" comic strip, her answer will likely make you think of Trick, so it becomes a little sadder when Trick's own strip of the same question implies they're aromantic. Even moreso after the seventh chapter reveals that Treat did think she liked Trick, and the latter is indeed aromantic. Thankfully, the harshness is lessened by the fact that "someone who can smile through anything" can also refer to Mochi and Moxie, who do return Treat's feelings.
  • Seeing Mochi be hostile and hateful towards Treat in the first bad ending because she thinks she killed Juju hits hard after seeing all the progression of their relationship throughout the series, especially since it all happened because of one minor change that led to them never meeting.
