Funny / Trombone Champ

General

  • While the trombone is a great instrument when played correctly, the one in this game is horrendous. Even if you hit the notes correctly, the toots sound horribly off-key. Not to mention that just like a real trombone, if not played correctly it sounds like a fart. The developers also deliberately made the timing strict so that your performances really do sound like hilarious garbage when you don't get notes right (which is likely all of the time). If you're not that accurate, you may end up bursting out laughing when trying to play a song with rapid-fire notes.
  • If the core gameplay mechanics weren't funny enough, some songs include actual fart noises and even air horns.
  • Most of the Flavor Text for the trading cards will mention something about hot dogs in one way or another. Usually as "facts" about famous composers.
  • The many amazing facts about trombones that pop up during loading screens.
"The first trombone was made in 2,000,000 BC."
"The trombone and trumpet are related (they are cousins)."
"The trombone and French horn are not related (they are just friends)."
"A person who plays a trombone is called a 'tromboner'."
"In England, the trombone is spelled 'troumboune.'"
  • One section of the song "Baboons" has pictures of baboons popping up in the background, set to the beat. Except for one that's a mandrill and another that's just a pug.
  • The background video for the "Star-Spangled Banner" ends with, appropriately enough for the American anthem, a close-up of a Bacon Cheeseburger in a basket with fries.
    • The video for "God Save the King" ends on a similar note, replacing the burger and fries with an English Breakfast, complete with baked beans. A fancy cup of tea also appears earlier in the song.
  • The elephant seen in the video for "Entry of the Gladiators" is holding a flag that reads "BAN THE USE OF CIRCUS ANIMALS"... just because. Note that it's also doing so while balancing on a ball.

User-Made Songs

  • Don't Stop Believin' involves the trombonist repeatedly stealing the guitarist's parts, much to the latter's increasing frustration. At the end of the song, the song cuts to black right as the guitarist is about to smash the trombonist over the head with the guitar.
    • When the stage dims and spotlights are cast on the band, the guitarist is the only one without the light and is obscured in the shadows. Quite literally, he is overshadowed.
  • One Winged Angel ended up becoming a user-made song, because of course it did. It literally starts with Sephiroth impaling your character with a ridiculously long trombone before taking over the performance... using the aforementioned long trombone.
  • "Through the Fire and Flames" by DragonForce is a popular song that's modded into the game. Herman Li, the guitarist of the band, saw a video of someone playing through the song and thought it was hilarious.
