• They spend the first half of the film getting a piano up a rather large flight of stairs. When they finally reach the top, a post carrier tells them they could have just gone around and up a nearby hill. So what do they do? They take the piano all the way back down and go round.
  • While the post carrier is talking Stan and Ollie are exhausted and leaning on the piano. When the post carrier points out the road Stan moves to look, sending the piano rolling and Ollie to the floor. When they finally get it still Ollie whacks the top of the piano in frustration, startling Stan.
• The Professor's Overly Long Name: Professor Theodore Von Schwarzenhoffen, M.D., A.D., D.D.S., F.L.D., F.F.F and F.
  • As the three tussle over the piano while the professor is trying to pass, Stan knocks his hat off and we see it tumble all the way to the bottom of the stairs, and ran over by a passing truck once it comes to a stop on the road.
  Professor: Very lovely. I'LL HAVE YOU ARRESTED FOR THIS! I'LL HAVE YOU THROWN IN JAIL!
• The first time the piano falls down, the nurse they were trying to help laughs at them. So Stan kicks her ass. And then she slaps Stan, and when she sees Ollie laughing, she breaks a baby bottle over his head.
• The nurse sends a policeman after them. With the aid of some embellishments.
  Nurse: And after that, officer, he kicked me.
  Policeman: He kicked you?!
  Nurse: Yes, officer. Right in the middle of my daily duty!.
• The policeman returns the favour and gives Ollie a kick.
  Stan: Say, listen; don't you think you're bounding over your steps?
  Policeman: ...What do you mean, bounding over my steps?
  Ollie: Why, he means, overstepping your bounds!
• The Professor is outraged to find Stan and Ollie in his house with a piano (which he hates with a passion). When their attempt to take it away causes some breakables to fall over, he gets so angry that he takes an ax to the piano. It's a player piano, though, so the moment it's hit, it begins to play "The Star-Spangled Banner." Stan and Ollie Break the Fourth Wall and salute. The Professor follows suit, only to realize what he's doing, turn off the piano, and continue to hack it to pieces.
• The Professor's wife is sobbing into his chest after he destroys the piano. The Professor asks Stan and Ollie how he can make it up to them while gesturing expansively, each one causing his wife to violently jerk and shake as she cries.
