Funny / How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend

Go To

  • In episode 0, Eriri is running down a hill to stop Utaha's antics, and does a dramatic leap... only to smack her face right into a tree branch and tumble the rest of the way down.
  • At the end of episode 1, Tomoya skips meeting with Eriri and Utaha when he finds Megumi and takes her to a cafe to chat. Partway into episode 2, Megumi offhandedly mentions Eriri and Utaha just outside staring daggers at Tomoya. Tomoya has a small freak out over it.
  • Episode 4:
    • Eriri and Utaha get into a scuffle concerning the game development schedule written on a whiteboard, and constantly try to write over each other's edits. One cut later, the two are cleaning marker ink off their faces.
    • In the stinger, Megumi says that she's going with her cousin to a shopping mall. Tomoya then requests that Megumi go with him instead. Megumi doesn't argue back, but actually accepts Tomoya's offer, leaving him completely bewildered.
  • In episode 5, Utaha asks Tomoya via word processor to feed her a cookie stick, which she promptly chomps up like a hamster. She asks for another, and Tomoya complies... but Eriri snaps her pencil in half in the middle of it and tells Tomoya to get another one, putting a stop to Utaha's antics.
  • At the start of episode 5, Eriri is having difficulty getting Megumi to do anything other than her blank stare for some character expression sketches. At the end of episode 6, Eriri finally gets a good sketch - one of Megumi with an angry expression. Megumi protests that she doesn't make that face, all while making that face.
  • In episode 6, Utaha and her editor Machida are talking outside of a hotel room while Tomoya takes a bath inside. Machida suggests throwing Tomoya out after he finishes up, but Utaha insists otherwise as there are no more trains running for the night. Machida than says that she'll leave the rest up to Utaha, and whatever happens next is none of Machida's business. We get a moment of Utaha losing her composure, while Machida gives a thumbs-up before disappearing.
  • In episode 7, Iori attempts to make a dramatic entrance for Tomoya and Eriri, but the two ignore Iori and continue past him while maintaining their previous conversation. Iori begs them to not ignore him because he was waiting at his spot for a half hour for them.
  • In episode 9, after Tomoya wakes up in bed with Utaha lying next to him, he asks her what she's doing there. Utaha replies that she had no screen time in the last episode. Tomoya retorts that's not an answer, and further asks what she meant by screen time and last episode.
  • Utaha's summary of what happened in episode 8, which starts off normally, with Eriri getting mad that Izumi was getting far more praise... which leads to Eriri ripping up Izumi's book and then shoving her into a mud puddle while laughing at her with a posse. Tomoya states that the summary turned into a certain someone's writing style partway through.
  • In episode 10 Tomoya's circle talks about the classic scene of the main character walking in on the heroine while she's undressed, and the essential elements of it, like the heroine letting out a high-pitched scream and calling the main character a pervert. After their conversation, Tomoya goes to take a shower and encounters Michiru, who is undressed after taking her shower. While she goes to quench her thirst, Tomoya lets out a high-pitched scream.
  • In episode 11, Megumi shows Tomoya a scene she created for the game. It eventually reaches a point where Megumi, through the in-game character, reveals that her bond between her and her cousin is similar to that between Tomoya and Michiru. Tomoya, after having a flashback to episode 4 where he flipped out at seeing Megumi and her cousin together, apologizes profusely.
Megumi: This is just random dialogue I added for practice. It has no meaning attached to it.
    Tomoya: Liar!
    Megumi: ^_^
  • Episode 12:
    • The revelation that everyone else in Michiru's band is an otaku unsettles Michiru. The anime even reintroduces them with their particular passions.
    • Tomoyo triumphantly declares that Michiru has been "brainwashed" into being a Sleeper Agent otaku by playing anime cover songs. His proof is how even her original song sounds like one. Michiru is horrified, and Tomoyo reassuring her that she will become an excellent otaku one day only makes it worse.
    • Utaha mentions at inopportune moments how narmy Tomoya and Michiru's discussions are because of the fact that they're in certain sex positions. Megumi tells her off the first time, and covers her mouth the second time.
    • The stinger, where the game is completed... one route, anyway. Tomoya remains in his victory pose even after the others get back to work (or sleep).
    • The final punchline. Tomoya attempts to end it on an ominous note, but Eriri runs out and smacks him with a Paper Fan of Doom, telling him to not jinx the circle.
