Fridge Brilliance

  • The addition of Amy in Sonic Origins Plus is brilliant from a meta standpoint: She's a test run on how her gameplay will work in this game.
  • The Chaos Emeralds giving characters unique abilities in addition to the usual Super Mode showcases the untapped potential of the gems.
  • The yellow Chaos Emerald provides a Bullet Time effect, and is seen in the official render of Amy Rose, who debuted in a game about time travel.
  • Of course Trip's naturally a Friend to All Living Things on Northstar Island: it's implied by the animated short and murals involving her kind that they're natives to the island, so she's likely either seen as their descendent and/or was always friendly with the local fauna like a childhood home.
  • Trip's Super Mode is a gold dragon. Her species' scientific name is "Smaug giganteus" after the Big Bad of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, who himself is a dragon with a thing for gold.note  Even more coincidentally, Trip's dragon form strikingly resembles a real life sungazer lizard.
    • For the cherry on top, she finally transforms and turns against Fang in the Golden Capital Zone.
  • The "Golden Capital" Zone. At first glance, it seems like a common misspelling of "Capitol", meaning a seat of government, presumably for the North Star Islands. However, given its gleaming construction and the piggy-bank Badnik sub-boss, it becomes clear that it’s actually a pun regarding financial or economic capital.
  • Fang's boss fight against Trip is not only That One Boss but a particularly lengthy gruelling Marathon Boss due to Fang keeping distance from Trip. Keeping in mind what he suffered from Trip in Super form earlier, Fang is making sure even if she has it here, it's gonna get worn down before she can finish him off.
