Presumably there was a miscount on the number of lambs, since none of them chose the one who becomes Lambert's mother.
The wolf cannot get untangled from that branch and certainly can't climb up the cliff. His Disney Villain Death is postponed until he becomes so desperate and hungry that he commits suicide.
What an extremely angry lion could do to a wolf... would not be pretty.
What exactly was Lambert eating all those years to grow up into a such big, healthy adult lion? He certainly didn't know he was a predator at all until the end, so where was getting the meat-based diet his body required?
If he's anything like Simba, maybe he's been eating large amounts of bugs.
