Fridge / An Encore From My Crying Heart

As a Fridge subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

  • Kaede wearing Shuichi's hat contrasts against Shuichi without his hat.
    • Shuichi without his hat is more open towards everyone in the original game, and willing to look people in the eyes.
    • Conversely Kaede while initially wearing with Shuichi's hat often hides behind her face behind the hat while she starts to act more distant and enclosed, likely due to her guilt of killing Rantaro with the shot-put ball. This changes soon on into the story though, when Miu suggests in chapter 4 that Kaede 'change things up a little', prompting Kaede starts to wear the hat with the beak facing out to the left side, rather than shielding her face. Ryoma actually points this out in chapter 15.
Ryoma: "I see you started wearing Saihara’s cap differently a while back."
Kaede: "Ah... Yeah, it just didn’t feel right wearing it like he did..."
Ryoma: "I think it looks good. Saihara used that hat to block out what he didn’t want to see. I was worried you’d do the same. Keeping things close to the chest is important, but so is letting your guard down a little. Stops you from gettin’ too caught up in your own paranoia. You’re doing him proud, Akamatsu."

  • As lampshaded by Ryoma in chapter 10, Tenko was repeatedly mentioning during the Class Trial that she doesn't use her Aikido techniques to murder people. Which is Metaphorically True. Tenko used poison instead.
  • In chapter 8, Miu's first guess to the culprit is also Tenko, in line with her randomly wild yet scarily correct guesses in the main game.
  • In chapter 13, when Korekiyo's research lab opens, Kiibo mentions the rules Professor Iidabashi gave him to not be exposed to direct sunlight, which is ironic, considering he was killed via fire from a candle.
  • In chapter 15, when Kaede and Ryoma visit Angie's lab to try and stop the resurrection ritual from going ahead, Angie offers to make Kaede a fourth Shuichi effigy. This ultimately ended up being a key piece of evidence that implicated Angie in the case, as the wax that had disappeared had been used by Angie to make an effigy of herself to use at the Love Hotel whilst carrying out the murder, ensuring she had an alibi.
  • Early on in chapter 15, Kaito sarcastically foreshadows Rantaro's revival that occurs at the end of the same chapter.
Kaito: “Yeah, And Rantaro will rise from the dead tomorrow morning.”
  • In chapter 5, when Tenko takes the GHB vial off of Himiko, the narration doesn't specify Tenko putting it down. This, we later find out, is because she didn't, instead pocketing it and later lacing the tea that Gonta would eventually be killed with.
  • In chapter 6, during the short conversation that happens at the dormitories, the narration specifically specifies Tenko emerging from Korekiyo's dorm room. In hindsight, this was so that Tenko could retrieve his motive card, presumably to show someone in the future, which she didn't do, but the card did end up falling out of her clothes when she was dragged up into the execution chamber, and it was later read by Angie and Maki. Tenko coming out of Korekiyo's room is brought up again by Kaede in the hindsight chapter 12.
  • In chapter 7, Tenko stops Himiko from sipping some of Korekiyo and Kirumi's green tea as she claimed that it's dangerous to drink tea made by a degenerate like Korekiyo, or that Angie might have added some sort of 'brainwashing curse' in it. It was really because she knew it was poisoned, and that Himiko could die if she took a sip.
  • The third chapter's blackened's execution is foreshadowed in chapter 12, when Angie talks about flying off of Gonta's back "like a fallen angel" during the Insect Meet n' Greet. 10 chapters later, Angie gets executed in an exeuction titled Fallen Angel.
  • At the start of chapter 13, Angie concludes that class trials can't go ahead if a body isn't found, to which Kiibo, comments on the darkness of her statement. This is scarily ironic when you consider that Kiibo did eventually end up getting killed by Angie, and she did attempt to conceal Kiibo's body, albeit not very well.
