- Composite Character: Many Owl House characters take on the roles of Pirates characters. For instance, Luz takes the place of Will, Amity Elizabeth, Eda Jack, etc.
- Fusion Fic: The story combines the settings of The Owl House and Pirates of the Caribbean into one, leaning a bit more towards the latter.
- Spit Take: Bump does one when Eda says that she's going to teach Luz magic.
- Willfully Weak: Eda can still use magic in this AU, but she limits doing so to avoid being declared a heretic by the church. This is why Luz is able to do so well in their duel, and why she doesn't break out immediately after waking up in jail.
