Voltron Defender of the Legend is a Voltron: Legendary Defender canon rewrite fanfic by Ohshitmyship which seeks to improve characterisations, plots and jokes that the show lacked.
Tropes in the fic include:
- Adaptation Expansion: The intention of this fic includes greater worldbuilding and different planets that weren't seen in canon.
- Adaptational Heroism: As it is probably likely in this fic. This may apply to Lotor, considering most of his original villany is given to Haggar/Honerva.
- Berserk Button: As in canon. Pidge's berserk button is still the Kerberos Mission. But also Keith upon remembering that Lance and Hunk stole Keith's speeder and apparently damaged it.
- Captain Obvious: When Pidge talks about the Kerberos Mission not being caused by pilotor mechanic error. Lance retorts duh, considering how suspicious the circumstances were around it. With the crew landing safely but suddenly losing radio contact shortly after.
- Noodle Incident: Lance and Hunk once stole Keith's speeder before the events of the story.
- Ship Sinking: In Cloud 9 Lance realises his feelings for Allura will not be reciprocated, along with her making her intentions very clear and its treated as closure for both of them. They are happy to still keep being friends
- The Prophecy: As it turns out the Original Paladins had a prophecy ascribed to them. Detailed the Betrayal which foretold of Zarkon and Honerva's betrayal and the destruction of Altea but the current Paladins also have prophecies all which link together. From Shiro's (The Champion), Keith's (The Fighter), Lance's (The Lover), Hunk (The Strongman), Pidge (The Enginer), Allura (The Princess) and Lotor (The Lost Prince), whom the Paladins haven't even met yet or know exist. In Shiro's prophecy alone it foretells canon events such as Shiro's death, the fight between both Keith and Shiro and even the Atlas.
