The Two Commanders is a fanfic by Flameal15k, and the sequel/soft reboot to his Massively Multiplayer Crossover Conquest in the Name of Advancement!.
Two Commanders travel the multiverse, seeking to repay a debt they owe to those above them. But are they prepared for what they will face on their journeys?
Note that due to the nature of this story, certain parts of Conquest will be Late Arrival Spoilers.

This story provides examples of:
- Adaptational Name Change: Vivian's last name in the original was Konig. Here, Konig is revealed to be either part of a disguise or one of her middle names, and her actual surname is Zizstrumel.
- Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: When Conquest ended, Vivian and Flame were working together, but not quite sharing a romance. Here, they definitely have tons of UST, and the author has confirmed they are planned to become a couple.
- Adaptation Distillation: Once the story settled into a full Continuity Reboot, the backstory portions (which compromise the events of the original canon) were altered heavily.
- The system Nathan first arrived in, which became his home base across the multiverse, was uninhabited by intelligent life, instead being populated by creatures Vivian had created as a challenge for him. Here, at least the world he arrived on has its own native sophonts.
- Vivian only physically appeared to Nathan during the Civilization: Beyond Earth arc. Here, she debuts shortly after he makes landfall in his hub universe in a commander of her own.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: The duo's various fights with Yuri are decidedly in their favor, with not even a hint of Yuri manage to get in a blow.
- Experienced Protagonist: By the time of the prologue, Nathan and Vivian have been on quite a few extra adventures since Conquest ended, and have picked up many new technologies and skills.
- Named by the Adaptation: CMDR Flameal15k was known by that designation in the original story, but he never decided on a cover name to use before it ended. Here, he's settled on Nathan Phelps.
- Noodle Incident: Whatever happened on Nemoras VII - all that has been revealed is that this enraged multiple random omnipotent beings such that while they acknowledge it was an accident on Nathan and Vivian's part, they still need to punish them to avoid others doing the same without restraint. Interlude 1 reveals that it involved them encountering other commanders and forming an organization abbreviated as G.U.M.P..
- Soft Reboot: While the story follows up on the events of Conquest, the author admitted dissatisfaction with how that story turned out and made it clear that, going forward, this story would take a Broad Strokes approach to the prior entry. Per his own request, viewers shouldn't read the first entry to avoid confusion regarding several plot points. This eventually upgraded into a full on Continuity Reboot with past portions of Victory being selectively adapted into the new canon.
