- Adaptation Expansion: Due to the focusing on different characters then canon, multiple characters like Rantaro are given much more story relevancy and backstory.
- Adaptational Job Change: A talent swap's premise is that everyone has new talents and thus new jobs.
- Asshole Victim: He did some nasty stuff, but the treatment Korekiyo goes through once he's secretly held captive makes him at least a little sympathetic, even if not enough to forget what he's done and planning to do.
- Bully Hunter: Kokichi really doesn't like people who take advantage of people he likes and often has to talk himself back from an initial violent thought about it.There was a blade waiting for every person Saihara listed off.
- Control Freak: Both Maki and Kokichi qualify as one.
- Dramatic Wind: Maki invokes this purposefully by having Ultimate Inventor Shuichi make her a wind machine for her cape to flap dramatically in to help catch Kokichi's attention due to the lack of actual wind.
- Good Is Not Soft: Kokichi wants to get mostly everyone out of here alive, and he'll do anything to make it happen. Anything.
- Hidden in Plain Sight: When Kokichi unlocks his Ultimate Assassin lab, he gives it a full makeover to look like a caregiver's lab. He pushes everything he can't justify into sealed boxes while dressing up what he can in paint and fun to seem completely innocuous. Even dressing up target dummies to seem like just fun fingerpaint exercises. Thanks to the excuse of just needing to clean up before letting anyone else, no one who doesn't already know his secret suspects a thing.
- Light Is Not Good: Kokichi, even as an assassin, dresses in all white.
- Master of Disguise: Unlike Tsumugi in canon, Angie has no case of cospox to stop her cosplaying the other students.
- Obfuscating Insanity: A common tactic Kokichi uses to make everyone underestimate him so he can more easily do his job.His voice was cheerful and childish. Inappropriate for discussing murder, but that was his M.O. Acting childish and immature and weak enough to be underestimated. That was how he'd kept his true talent a secret, after all.
- Sneaky Spider: Korekiyo as the Ultimate Entomologist is often associated with spiders and even uses them to attempt murder on Maki by releasing a bunch of poisonous spiders into her room, an attempt that Kokichi luckily stops.
- Spiders Are Scary: No one else seems to like spiders despite Korekiyo's clear fondness for them.
