The Hermione Granger Series by SaraSmile416
is a fanfic series that retells the Harry Potter books from the perspective of Hermione Granger. Three books have been released so far.
The series contains examples of:
- Adaptational Context Change: A lot of dialogue from the original series is put into new contexts. For example, Hermione mentioning her parents are dentists as she gets ready to leave for the holidays is explained as a reference to an earlier conversation between her and Ron
- Adaptational Early Appearance: Moaning Myrtle is introduced in the first book rather than the second.
- Adaptational Explanation: Attempts to explain away some plot holes from the original series, like why the Gryffindor Quidditch team has alternate players in later years but not earlier years
- Ascended Extra: Naturally, Hermione’s parents play a bigger role than in the original books. Also Sophie Roper, a background character in the original books, is a fleshed out character in this series.
- Cynicism Catalyst: The Grangers struggle to emotionally bond with Hermione because their first child died.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Luna Lovegood appears at the sorting ceremony in Hermione Granger and the Chamber Of Secrets
- Forbidden Friendship: Hermione has a secret friendship with Slytherin Sophie Roper. Both hide it from their respective houses.
- Named by the Adaptation: Two of Hermione’s roommates, who were nameless in the original books, are given names here
- Not Always Evil: Sophie Roper is a good Slytherin
