Fairytale Ending
is a The Vampire Diaries fanfiction by adlyb. It is a canon divergence fic where Klaus succeeds in taking Elena away in 3x05, and follows the story of how she deals with staying with him, Rebekah, Stefan, and Tyler.
It is an ongoing story, which as of August 2019 still updates regularly.
Fairytale Ending provides examples of the following tropes:
- Big Fancy House: Klaus moves into one with Rebekah, Stefan, Elena and his hybrids after leaving Mystic Falls.
- Brother–Sister Incest: Klaus and Rebekah.
- Chekhov's Gun: The bloodstone Elena tried to create with Marcel and Davina ends up becoming important again in chapter 33.
- Doppelgänger: Elena, of course.
- Monster Lord: Klaus, and the other originals to a lesser degree.
- Plot Twist:
- At the end of chapter 36, Sophie turns out to actually be Celeste.
- In chapter 38, when Davina has just completed the ritual to break the Crescent wolf curse, 'Mikael' shows up.
- Polyamory: While Klaus/Elena is the main pairing, Klaus is sleeping with both Stefan and Rebekah, and Elena has feelings for Stefan and Tyler as well.
- Wham Episode:
- Chapter 36 ends with the revelation that Sophie is actually Celeste, and being in possession of the bloodstone.
- At the end of chapter 38, Mikael shows up, along with the Mystic Falls gang.
