Set Five years after Ragnarok, Kratos is approached by the Egyptian Gods who ask for help dealing with a conspiracy targeting them. Kratos and Freya do so, journeying to Egypt and growing closer as they try to unravel the conspiracy.
Blood Upon The Sands contains examples of:
- Big Bad: The ringleader of the conspiracy against Ra is Khonsu, though ultimately he turns out to be an Unwitting Pawn for Lucifer.
- Blood Knight: Sobek is a heroic version, spending DAYS in the trials of Muspelheim. He was also a match for Thor in combat.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Sobek utterly wrecks Vali when they fight before unceremoniously eating him.
- The Dreaded: When Kratos asks Thoth about Lucifer Thoth pointedly answers as little as possible, saying Kratos better pray he isn't an enemy.
- Fantastic Racism: Many of the Egyptian Gods look down on Kratos and Freya as uncivilized foreigners.
- Hypocrite: Despite the aforementioned Fantastic Racism, the Egyptian members of the conspiracy are more than willing to work with Nergal (a Babylonian God) and Whiro (a Maori God). It also turns out they've been manipulated by Lucifer.
- The Man Behind the Man: Lucifer is the one pulling the strings of the conspiracy in Egypt.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Khonsu is part of the conspiracy because he believes he would be a better leader for the common people than Ra.
