Fanfic / Aletheia's Daughter

Go To

Aletheia's Daughter is a Luxaren Allure fanfic. Taking place after the events of the game, it follows Merel as she and Chisa investigate the old records at the Mardelen archives to finish what Merel's teacher Heather started.

But as she studies the records, she begins to discover some odd discrepancies in the text. Curious, she decides to figure out what it means... and discovers an Awful Truth that changes the very meaning of her existence.

This fic contains examples of:

  • Awful Truth: The humans who became the first Naga were victims of a demon alchemy experiment to create Slave Mooks.
  • Expospeak Gag: Painting Therona, who cannot communicate directly with people, has some very choice words for Lynette after her “ugh” reaction to her:
Therona had apparently thought hard about how to communicate; she started drawing letters in the painting’s sand with a claw. The words gradually demanded that Lynette do something anatomically impossible with her missing weapon.
  • Human Furniture Is a Pain in the Tail: In Chapter 10, Merel notes that, as a Naga, she has real difficulty sleeping in human beds (which are too small for her snake tail) and needs a 12-foot long bed to sleep comfortably.
“I’ll be glad to sleep on a real bed again. Remind me to complain about the trip over here. I was practically doubled up in those bunks. Felt like I broke half my tailbones.”
  • Living Drawing: Eelinoth and Therona's spirits were bound by Aurelie to a painting. While they can't speak or interact with anything outside the painting, they can move inside it and hear anyone outside.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: When Lynette first appears in Chapter 10, she mentions having tussled with some bandits on the way.
I put the fear of Rezael into the bastards. I don’t think the survivors will stop running until they reach the sea.
  • Precision F-Strike: Lynette, upon hearing that Queen Silreah banished Heather and burned her records for uncovering the human-Naga collection, lets out a “what the fuck?”
  • Precocious Crush: Merel, as a kid, had one on the older Heather, her teacher. She was aware of it but chose not to say anything:
I never said anything, because the last thing you do to a little girl with a crush is feed the crush. But I wasn’t going to send you away over it. You were a good student, after all.
  • Sarcastic Confession: When Merel and Chisa are preparing to flee Mardelen, they encounter Davis, and Merel considers doing this:
Second thought: Truth he wouldn’t believe. Yeah, I’m looting the joint and running away.

  • Reflexive Response: Lynette, upon seeing the Living Drawing of Eelinoth and Therona, instinctively reaches for her spear despite not bringing it.
