Jo Martin is a British actress of Jamaican descent. She was a regular on the BBC sitcom The Crouches, and in 2019, joined the cast of the long-running medical drama Holby City as Max McGerry, staying until the show's conclusion in 2022. Martin has made numerous guest appearances across three decades' worth of television, finally gaining mainstream attention in 2020, when she was unveiled as a new, mysterious incarnation of the title character in Doctor Who, becoming the second woman, and first person of colournote to play the role. Her portrayal, although brief, has been widely praised by fans the world over. She will reprise the role of the "Fugitive Doctor" for an upcoming audio series from Big Finish.
