Hellcat is a 2023 comic book limited series from Marvel Comics. The series is written by Christopher Cantwell, with art by Alex Lins and color art by KJ Diaz.
Hellcat (2023) contains examples of the following tropes:
- Anachronic Order: The first issue jumps between the murder investigation, different points in Patsy's youth, and her first meeting with Spalding Grantham.
- Plot-Triggering Death: Patsy's boyfriend (and Hedy's ex-boyfriend) Spalding Grantham is killed at the start of the first issue. Patsy's then arrested for his death, prompting her investigation to find the real killer and clear her name.
- Posthumous Character: Spalding Grantham, mentioned in the previous Iron Man / Hellcat Annual, appears in flashback. But by the start of the first issue he's already dead, and his murder sets the plot in motion.
- Variant Cover: The first issue has five variant covers as well as the standard version. All focus on Hellcat herself. Two are action poses, two show her looking at a demonic reflection, and one is a much less realistic image showing her as a more catlike figure playing with a huge ball of yarn.
