The Judges

     General Tropes
  • Nice Mean And In Between:
    • Michael is "Nice", Alvin is "Mean", and Claudio "In Between".
  • Supreme Chef: All of them are experts in their fields, with Alvin being the recipient of 3 Michelin Stars for his Bo Innovation franchise in China, Canada, and London. Claudio is the head chef of a critically acclaimed restaurant in Toronto and Michael is the owner of eleven well-esteemed Italian restaurants in Toronto. Each of them demonstrates cooking for foods relating to their specific cuisines each season.

     Current Judges

Creator/Alvin Leung

Host and Judge: Seasons 1-Present
  • Berserk Button: Raw food, not taking the competition seriously, arguing, and back-talking. Danny from Season 1 got the worst of this with his fish croquette smelts.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He does have his moments.

Michael Bonacini

Judge: Seasons 1-present
  • Author Appeal: He's a big fan of Italian cuisine due to his Italian heritage.
  • Constructive Criticism: Chef Michael's comments are always on point and suggest how to creatively elevate the dish rather than just saying whether it's good or bad. He speaks with passion and conviction too. Because of this, Michael gives valid reasons and constructive criticism/feedback critiques and tells them how to make it better, and gives them advice for their mistakes and how to avoid them.
  • Nice Guy: He is the nicest, friendliest, and most gentle host and judge on the panel, and is always very nice, friendly, calm, affable, encouraging, and supportive. He hardly ever gets angry and gives gentle, positive criticism, and always comes with at least something positive in the worst of dishes to make the contestants feel good.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Being Italian and British, he's always seen rocking a well-tailored suit in every episode.
  • Gratuitous Italian: He says a few Italian words, especially when cooking with foods relating to the cuisine.
