Races

Humes

Humes are the most populous and politically powerful race in Ivalice, and it is by and large their actions which help shape the world of Ivalice.

Humans in general

• Humans Are Average: Humes don't have any particular magical abilities; their power lies in the fact that they're extremely populous and politically important.
• Humans Are Bastards: Humes are by and large the cause of most of the bad things that go down in Ivalice, with the other races usually caught in the crossfire.
• Humanity Is Infectious: The Viera certainly seem to think so, believing that spending time around humes weakens their powers.
• We Are as Mayflies: Alongside the Aegyl, Humes are the shortest-lived race in Ivalice, living an average of 60 years; by comparison, a 50-year-old Viera is considered relatively young.

Archadia

The Archadian Empire was once a vast continent-spanning nation in the east of Ivalice. It seems to have disappeared sometime between the events of Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics, though it hasn't (yet) been explained why.

• The Empire: Well, yeah. Very much a classically antagonistic portrayal inasmuch as its leadership is concerned; the people are far more sympathetic. Also played with in that its leaders are democratically elected, whereas the heroic Dalmasca is an absolute monarchy.
• The Queen's Latin: Archadians speak with British (specifically southern English) accents, varying from Received Pronunciation among the ruling classes to East London accents for the lowborn.
• Take Over the World: The Empire's ultimate goal.
• Upper-Class Twit: Many of the wealthy Imperials encountered outside of Archadia can be generously described as well-intentioned ditzes at best, snobby racists at worst.
