"... I acknowledge this is unusual, but my sisters and I are trained and will help meet the objective."

Itzel is a dark-skinned shield mage, the leader of the 22nd Magus Expeditionary Unit with Naomi as her second-in-command, and one of the six main protagonists in the Aecast webcomic.

  • Action Girl: Itzel is always direct and to-the-point, and does not shy away from any combat, her past trauma revealed in Chapter 2 notwithstanding. Even though she is only a shield mage, she has shown numerous times to take point and put herself into harm's way to stop a threat.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Like all the other girls, Itzel's ethnicity is not explicitly spelled out. Her own name, as well as the name she calls out after her trauma event in Chapter 2, seems to suggest that she might be of Incan heritage or some other vague Mesoamerican combination.
  • Broken Bird: Although she's the capable leader of the 22nd unit, Itzel clearly has unresolved issues stemming from past trauma that have not been addressed.
  • Dislikes the New Guy: Immediately dislikes Aytan and Hannah upon their formal induction into the 22nd unit at the start of Chapter 2 based on what she perceives as their complete lack of experience. She isn't exactly wrong - once things turn out very badly she practically has to force Aytan and Hannah to take action.
  • Go-Getter Girl: She's the leader of an entire mage unit, reports to the group's boss directly, is the public face for the unit, and always concerned about what is best for her squadmates and the unit at large.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Unlike every other girl in the unit, Itzel is much less tolerant of inexperience or questions she deems ignorant or naive. This temper seems primarily reserved for newcomers Aytan and Hannah, whereas she treats everyone else with a neutral or almost deferential attitude.
  • Tomboy: Can be argued that she is one based on the fact that she generally eschews stereotypical effeminate behavior when engaging with others, regardless of the circumstances.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: Has one, and it's surprisingly long too.
