    Passion

Passion

The protagonist and the newest Oracle-in-training, Passion is a kind-hearted and naive soul who is a bit slow on the uptake but ultimately means well.

They are an optimist at best and a coward at worst. Their job is to mediate between humanity and the gods.

Tropes:

  • All-Loving Hero: Passion loves everything deeply and does their best to see the good in everyone, to where this forgiving nature extends to even murderers.
  • Break the Cutie: Passion undergoes a terrible tempering that mentally strains them. The Trials traumatize Passion so deeply that they develop PTSD and acquire a horrible dose of cynicism.
  • Mystical White Hair: Passion's white hair denotes their inherent divinity.
  • The Chosen One: There is only one Oracle born every generation or so, and that's Passion this time.

    Forgotten

Forgotten

He's the strongest Oracle to have ever lived and the figure behind the Uprising. A mysterious man without a lot about him,he's closer to a scary story people tell their children nowadays. Some say even mentioning him is taboo. Not much can be said about the late Oracle, as he is a dark part of Rosaryidia's history that people think is best... forgotten.

Tropes:

Always Someone Better: Forgotten is discussed many times as being the strongest Oracle of all time.

Badass Arm-Fold: Exactly what's on the tin.

Badass Boast: Known for various blasphemous boasts [[spoilers: with many of them being legitimate.]]

Dark and Troubled Past: At the epicenter of revolution and intense loss, life has never been easy for Forgotten. Surrounded by lying clergy and people who liked him superficially, he only became hardened. And the one person he truly loved with everything he had eventually also passed.

Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Forgotten is shown time and time again to be extremely belligerent to gods and powerful beings alike.

Hidden Heart of Gold: Despite his demeanor, Forgotten is one to protect his own with tooth and nail. Also known for pioneering healing techniques and making it more accessible for other people with Divinity. Has been stated time and time again that "I don't want to make martyrs."

Rebellious Spirit: The organizer of a revolution and local god killer, Forgotten definitely has a problem with authority.

Reformed, but Not Tamed: Despite linking up with Passion and crew later, Forgotten still has his rebellious streak and a fixation on killing the god of Creation.

Shoot the Dog: Forgotten has multiple instances of amoral behavior including threatening Passion's life on several occasions, killing gods, and making statement pieces out of dead Watchers for his revolution.

Shrouded in Myth: Various rumors and stories have been born around the legacy of Forgotten. Of course, you can only share these stories in the dark.

Sympathetic Murderer: Forgotten kills countless clergymen and Divine folk, but does so due to a deep frustration against what he believes to be an aggressive regime that has never once granted him his freedom.

Walking Spoiler: Even mentioning Forgotten as having an integral role in the Uprising can be a pretty big spoiler. Forgotten is essentially the catalyst for the main story's events and was presumed dead before the start of A Study of Martyrs.

We Do the Impossible: A pioneer of healing Divinity and weaponry, Forgotten is known as a God killer. It was once thought impossible for anyone to kill a god except a god until Forgotten. Most things in A Study of Martyrs were thought impossible until Forgotten.
