Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury boasts an incredible score from varying talented artists and covering many genres.

OP & ED

  • The first opening is "Shukufuku" ("祝福", translated to "The Blessing") by popular rising stars YOASOBI. The addictively popular Electropop and dance-pop song reached number three on the Oricon Singles Chart and number two on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. The song is based on anime series composer and screenwriter Ichirō Ōkouchi’s “Star of the Cradle” novel which depicts the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial and Suletta Mercury’s upbringing on Mercury, told from Aerial’s POV.
  • The second opening, "slash" by yama, has wonderful melodies and compelling vocals that perfectly match the much darker and more action-packed tones that come with each episode of the second season.
  • The first ending, "Kimi yo Kedakaku Are" ("君よ 気高くあれ", translated to "You be noble") by professionally brand new artist Shiyui & Ryo, is an echoing and powerful piece that ties into the themes of the series.
  • The second ED, featuring "Red:Birthmark" by AiNA THE END, is an animated tour-de-force as well as an emotionally blistering song in its own right. It hints at Eri's actual agency within the Gundam Aerial and her connection to Suletta.

OST

  • Mobile Suit Gundam Twilight AXIS's composer Takashi Ohmama returns and ends up completely outdoing himself.
    • As a fitting introduction to the series' eventual tone, "Happy Birthday to You" acts as the show's opening salvo as Lfrith makes its debut.
    • "The Witch From Mercury", the series's main theme, is an orchestral masterpiece. With vocals from Clara Sorace tying it together, it manages to be epic, foreboding and victorious all at once.
    • "Asticassia", the main theme for the anime's school, is better suited for a palace with how grand and majestic it sounds. A music video was released showcasing both these pieces being played back to back in person.
    • AERIAL REBUILD, the theme for the eponymous mobile suit, plays during its first launch as it fends off Gundam Lfrith Ur and Lfrith Thorn at the tail end of the Plant Quetta attack. While the beginning of the theme is a Triumphant Reprise of Gundam Aerial's leitmotif, its heroic tone gradually begins to turn more and more sinister, with a One-Woman Wail breakdown and Ominous Latin Chanting leading up to the moment Aerial Rebuild fires its BFG. The darker tone is a hint at things to come in Season 2, and at the true purpose behind Aerial's existence.
    • The climactic theme, "Liberation from the Curse", plays as Suletta pilots the mobile suit known as The Monster, charging into battle against her sister and mother to settle the family score. Befitting the final battle, it sounds like something you would expect out of Two Steps from Hell with an incredibly grand and epic sound. When that final note of the One-Woman Wail hits, your hair is sure to stand on end.
