Chapter 3: Under New Management

Author's Note: Greetings fellow tropers. I have realised that my narration of this game has not been all that entertaining. For that, I wish to apologise. In an effort to make this liveblog more interesting, I figured I'd get the leader of the Korath to do the narration from here on out. So, without a futher ado, allow me to introdu--

ENOUGH CHIT-CHAT, HUMAN SCUM!

Greetings, human scum; I am tired of this half-hearted human scum narrator being the one to document the amazing feats of the growing might of the Korath Clan! I, Evii the Paladin, shall take over this duty in addition to my many other duties. This is because I am of Korath blood and am thus far more skilled at multi-tasking than you human scum.

Now... Where did I write my notes... Ah yes, on the gladiator scalps!

Turn 25: July 1st, 2227

Upon meeting up with my incompetent researchers, I realised that they were being idiots as per usual. They were spouting some non-sense about studying how to improve the toxic regulators for our citizens but I was having none of that. I ordered them to change their research subject to improving our Hyper Drive capabilities.

Author's Note: To be fair, it was you who gave the order to research Advanced Toxic Coloniz--

In any case, I also received news from our flagship, which was still far away from our current base of operations. The transmission detailed two reports; one was adequate and one was... Suffice to say, I am disappointed that we have yet to develop the technology to strangle someone through a radio transmission. Unfortunately, some researchers informed me that such technology cannot and will not exist. So I strangled them instead.

The flagship reported that they had investigated another nearby anomaly. They found a non-harmful, and thus useless, chemical compound that were sold for 100bc. A PITANCE, I TELL YOU! But that wasn't the worst news!

No... The bad news is that those bloody Torians are out and about in MY galaxy! Grr... And it is all those bloody Drengins' fault! If they had just killed the bastards instead of enslaving them, we wouldn't have to deal with these annoying wide-headed freaks! Bah, incompetent fools the lot of them!

This has not been a good week... Where did I put my drink...

Turn 26: July 8th, 2227

Well at least something decent happened this turn. I was ready to declare war on those weird yellow freaks, but my advisors told me we didn't have any weaponry. HOW IN THE NAME OF THE DREAD LORDS DID WE NOT HAVE ARMAMENTS YET?! Hmm... Maybe I should have waited to strangle some of those researchers...

Meanwhile, we got a bit of better news from our homeworld; Kora. They had finished building their Recruiting Center, so it would only be a matter of time before the population surges. More soldiers for our inevitable conquest! And maybe some researchers whose windpipes aren't crushed...

To celebrate the construction of this vast city-sized building, I have ordered that the planet focus on ship production to allow us to get a colony ship operational; I have spotted a useful planet that would make an excellent forward base, being located directly south of Xiphon...

Finally, the flagship reported back that they had discovered some bizarre plasma that could be infused with our hulls to increase their defensive capabilities by approximately 1%. This will inevitably improve our future warships so that none shall stand in the way of our conquest!

Turn 27: July 15th, 2227

There is not much to discuss this week outside of some discoveries by the flagship. The crafty bastards picked up some wreckage worth about 250bc as well as more of that bizarre space plasma. At least those fools have some use...

Turn 28: July 22nd, 2227

Good news from our homeworld: A colony ship has been built! Now it is only a matter of time before we can grab that beautiful class 11 planet to the south and subjugate the hell out of it. I order the pilots forth after they manage to cram 1,000,000 gorgeous Koraths on board. It will take about a month for them to arrive but that is understandable.

More news arrived from the flagship crew, with them finding and selling another compound for the same price as before. I swear to the Dread Lords, if those idiots ever get within arms reach of me their wind pipes will be crushed and fragmented! However, they may have slightly redeemed themselves in discovering some super-soldier syrum, believed to have originated from the Dread Lords themselves! Now the Korath are even mightier!

Turn 29: August 1st, 2227

Those peabrained slave researchers met up with me this week to inform me of their completion of studying a new and improved form of Hyper Drive. They spoke of trying to develop another advancement of such technology called an Ion Drive. I gave the order and sent them whimpering back to the labs. Bah, it bothers me that we need such frail workers, but such is the price of technology.

Speaking of slaveling imagination labs, one was built on the planet Talden. I gave the order for them to continue construction of more enormous labs so that we could get more of those spineless creeps to work!

Finally, the flagship reported back that they had found some ancient diplomatic texts from between the Dread Lords and the Arnor. Upon looking them over, I learnt of how to better intimidate my simpering foes into giving me what I want. The Dread Lords are truly an example to strive after.

Turn 30: August 8th, 2227

To celebrate my 30th week as the galactic commander and invincible warlord of the Korath Clan, I hiked up the taxes to 55%. Of course, half of my population knew better than to complain about it while I was surprised to learn that the rest of the clan was filled with WHINING LITTLE SISSIES. Unfortunately, I noticed that we were still running a deficit. It seems some things can't be properly sorted out with a big meaty fist to the face. It is a bizarre galaxy we live in, it would seem...

Turn 31: August 15th, 2227

Nothing really happened this week except for the flagship looting an old ship of armour and crudely bolting it onto their own. Of course, they soon realised that the area no longer had anomalies to loot and plunder and thus turned around to return back to Kora. I'm looking forward to... congratulating them upon their return. Now let me just go find my strangling gloves...

Turn 32: August 22nd, 2227

Wonderful news! The newest planet conquered by the Korath Clan has been colonized and named! X 2 X is a fresh new planet with jungles filled with prehistoric beasts that make fine hunting material! In addition, we found two Dread Lord monoliths; one depicting their furiosity in battle which seems to uplift the spirits of Koraths*

and one which seemed to house ancient experiments*. Of course, to ensure that the planet develops quickly, I purchased the building of a basic slave pit for a mere 204bc and got the builders back on task to build another one.

In addition, the recruitment center was built on Xiphon and got started on building an arena near another of such battle monoliths on that planet.

Finally, the constructor was finished on Kora, I was there to personally see it off into orbit, where it moved so that its influence could be felt on Kora, Talden, and Xiphon. After that was finished, I ordered the construction of another colony ship, as hearing about more discoveries of such Dread Lord artifacts on the planets pushed me onwards to capture more of them.

And my birth week is next week! I remember the ceremony where I killed my father in bare-fisted combat like it was yesterday... 37 years today... I was only 10 at the time, extraordinarily young age to successfully accomplish being 'birthed' into the world. It is much like the human scum event in that there is a lot of blood and women screaming. There is also a cord, but that is normally the entrails of the loser being used to hang the dead body from the Birth Tree... So it isn't really all that much like your human scum concept of birth.

Turn 33: September 1st, 2227

Ugh... Hangover... So... Bad...

...

Go away...

Turn 34: September 8th, 2227

Well that was an entertaining bender! Especially when Fireed used that one man as a pinata and Daveed made out with that Murder Rock... Unsurprisingly, I was too busy with those affairs to really accomplish much during that week.

So imagine my angry surprise when that those ungrateful ingrates of a population caused my polls to show a drop in approval to 48%! After strangling two advisors, I dropped the tax rate 1%. Those bloody hippy communists had better appreciate this contribution or I will ensure that my hands do not run out of necks to throttle for quite some time!

Turn 35: September 15th, 2227

Those spineless twats returned this week, telling me about the completed Ion Drive technology. Well, not quite. They said something about making it smaller and easier to fit more on ships. Isn't that just the stupidest idea? So I tell them to learn how to properly build better and bigger ships without gravity causing them to crush in on themselves.

Finally the space miner vessel returned orders saying that it couldn't find any new asteroid fields to mine. However, upon showing me their location, I noticed a ripe class 11 world. Now I knew where my colony ship was going...

Turn 36: September 22nd, 2227

The colony ship on Kora was finished and set course for the new planet. Unfortunately, it seems I am unable to figure out a good name yet and must deliberate further upon such matters...

And thus ends the third quarter of the year 2227. We have obtained another colony and are quickly moving to secure yet another one. Our technological advances are growing quicker and more efficient. We have the highest body count in the galaxy, all directly caused by yours truly!

Author's Note: Said body count is composed of 27 researchers, 11 advisors, and approximately 960 innocent civil--

But we do not dwell on the past! For ours is the future! The Korath Clan shall rule the entire galaxy! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

ONTO DEATH!

It seems that you may not understand one key different in the economy of this game compared to other civ likes. Production costs you money. Every single point of production an industrial building produces, or point of research a research building produces costs you 1 bc. That's why when you built that production building on the 700% bonus space, you suddenly started running a deficit. It's sometimes a good idea not to build production buildings until you get enough of a population to produce the money to support it.
