Page Action: I Got Better

Go To

What would be the best way to fix the page?

At issue:

The trope I Got Better displays massive amounts of misuse (at least 45% misuse from a random sampling). The name sounds like Exactly What It Says On The Tin, but it is a relatively narrow Death Trope.

Redefine trope to be about unexplained recoveries. Rename and clean up wicks.

Pros: Misuse and bad examples for other editors removed, trope is broader; renaming will discourage misuse in the future.

Cons: Requires changing a lot of wikilinks; leaving the redirect may still attract misuse for the Stock Phrase.

Redefine trope to be about unexplained recoveries. Do not rename. Clean up wicks.

Pros: Misuse and bad examples for other editors removed, trope is broader.

Cons: Stock Phrase title that may still attract future misuse for the phrase itself, and/or explained recoveries.

Rename to sound less like a stock phrase, but use "I Got Better" as an in-universe reference to the new trope.

Pros: Minimal disruption of the wiki, borderline examples find a place.

Cons: The difference may be difficult for casual tropers to notice, leading to more misuse.

Cut trope entirely.

PROS: Eliminates misuse and a pothole magnet.

CONS: Cuts a valid trope.

Neutral: Cutting the trope does not preclude YKTTW'ing the definition under a new name.

Rename trope and clean up wicks.

Pros: Misuse and bad examples for other editors removed, new name will hopefully prevent more misuse.

Cons: Redirect may still be misused, rename disrupts wiki, trope may be too narrow.

Clean up wicks. Do not rename or redefine.

Pros: Misuse and bad examples for other editors removed.

Cons: Misuse is likely to continue, although perhaps at a reduced rate, trope may be too narrow.

Do nothing.

Pros: No disruption of wiki.

Cons: Rampant trope misuse continues, misused wicks remain, trope may be too narrow.
