* CriticalBacklash: In the latter half of TheNewTens, plenty of fans took issue with the perceived notion (perpetuated by Anita Sarkeesian of ''WebVideo/FeministFrequency'') that Lara was just a MsFanservice and nothing else. Particularly [[https://www.deviantart.com/medusa1893/art/Classic-Lara-Truth-Vs-Fiction-801120155 this meme]] pointed out that Lara was a self-made woman, powerful, independent, beholden to no one. Many gamers fell in love with her because she was a fun character, and some admitted to not even thinking of her as a sex object. The perception of her as a sex toy can be blamed more on the marketing, which of course [[ComplainingAboutShowsYouDontWatch people who didn't play the games saw and based their criticisms off]]. Creator/LianaK devoted an [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJMj3B1BFko entire video]] defending Lara as a feminist icon.

Like what issues? I read Top Cow comics and Lara is easily not Villain Protagonist there, nor does story hint at her being that

** This is also very visible in [=TopCow=] comics, where Lara is AntiHero at best and easily qualifies for VillainProtagonist in few issues.

** Lara and Sam in the 2013 reboot. With Roth as a surrogate father figure and Jonah a surrogate big brother and [[spoiler: Alex a DoggedNiceGuy that Lara didn't even know about]], Lara doesn't have any male as a solid LoveInterest, so her subtext-laden RomanticTwoGirlFriendship with Sam doesn't require too much glancing through ShippingGoggles. ** ''Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen'', by Corinna Bechko et al.: The demon simply known as [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname the Unnameable]] was once a member of the ancient shadow walkers that lived on the Earth. Upon [[DemonicPossession possessing a human]], the Unnameable develops an intelligence and an ambition that motivates it to try and scour the Earth of all life to remake it as a hellish world of rock and fire populated solely by demons in his likeness. Stopped by the Ice Age and putting pieces of himself into ivory statuettes, the Unnameable resurfaces, and, possessing a politician named Mr. Green, immediately begins corralling the pieces back to him, leading to the unwilling possession and death of many people. When nearly complete, the Unnameable scorches the surrounding area to a flaming crisp and [[ManOnFire burns alive the first man]] who tries to stop him in his crusade to take over the planet.

I don't think lack of music is enough to claim it's a porting disaster. However, it fits another trope: Reality Has No Soundtrack.

* PortingDisaster: The PC version has no event music (although it came with a few unique ambient themes), although later versions fixed this problem. It should be noted though that [[http://hg101.proboards.com/thread/14383/console-games-got-ported-pc?page=1 some people actually consider the PC version better than either of the console versions.]]

* BestKnownForTheFanservice: A lot of people play the game through on all difficulty levels and get all the trophies-just to unlock the bikini costumes, and to angle the camera to get the best view of Lara's ass. Back when Core was still running the series, a FanNickname for positioning Lara in the corner was "boob angle", since the camera spinned for a while, after which it centered on Lara's bossom.

* BreatherLevel: After the rather challenging "Sanctuary of the Scion", "Natla's Mines" is a breeze by comparison, especially since the first half is largely devoid of enemies and death traps. Then "Atlantis" ratchets up the difficulty all the way to the end of the game.

Cleaning up misuse according to [1] Trope Repair Shop thread. Fandom Berserk Button is for objective misconceptions

* FandomBerserkButton: Referring to Lara as "Laura" is a pretty good way to annoy any ''Tomb Raider'' fan.
** Likewise, insisting that every game in the franchise is set within the same continuity ([[AlternateContinuity there are in fact three separate ones]] within the "main" series due to two [[ContinuityReboot reboots]]) is likely to irritate quite a few fans. Even more so if you try to bring the movie and the comics into it. Note that this has not stopped even some ''fans'' from insisting that they're all part of the same continuity.
** Better don't mention existence of the GaidenGame.
