* CompleteMonster: [[GeneralRipper Colonel Hopkins]], also known as "The Demon of Vingt", is the leader of Helvetian Army's Ninth Independent Mobile Division who, prior to the main story, manipulates [[spoiler:one of the members of Helvetian's 1121st Platoon, Noel Kannagi]], by reviving an ancient weapon known as "The Invisible Reaper" in order to provoke war against Roman Empire. This resulted in three cities ended up being destroyed and [[spoiler:Noel]] traumatized by the events. In the present day, when the members of the 1121st Platoon taking care of the unconscious Roman Empire soldier, [[spoiler:Aisha Aldola]], Hopkins then tried to take over the platoon, planning to use [[spoiler:Aisha]] as the scapegoat of the war in order to prolong the conflict between Roman and Helvetia. When he overhears the news about the ceasefire of the Roman Army via the Citizens of Seize, Hopkins dismissed it and took the citizens as a hostage. * SugarWiki/DevelopmentHeaven: The anime takes place in the fictional town of Seize, which is [[http://infinitemirai.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/cuenca-spain-home-of-sora-no-woto/ shot by shot]] the [[RealPlaceBackground real Spanish town of Cuenca.]] Also, to voice a German-speaking character in the show, they [[SurprisinglyGoodForeignLanguage used a voice actress who was raised in Austria and spoke fluent German.]]

* FridgeBrilliance: The presence of the angel skeleton and a brief glimpse of a wing in the flashback in episode 7, not to mention the dramatic way it's revealed to the audience, imply that the Roman version of the Flame Maiden story is closer to the truth. It might seem strange that the people who actually live in the town where the being was killed have the story wrong, but if you consider the cultural differences it makes a lot of sense. The [[spoiler:angel fell in Japan]] and its shown that a Shinto-like religion survived in the region all the way to the story's present. They'd have no particular reason to remember [[spoiler:a supernatural being bent on ending the world as anything other than a monster that had to be stopped]]. Rome, on the other hand, is shown to be a Christian, or at least monotheistic, nation, so the greater context of [[spoiler:God bringing judgment upon humanity with his angels has more context for them]]. Also, if the village realized that they almost [[spoiler:stopped the maidens from saving what was left of the world]], they might feel a little embarrassed and downplay their own role in the tragedy, whereas outsiders would have no reason to not be completely honest about it.

(Like the Beetle it's based on, the Kübelwagen is rear-engined).

* InternetBackdraft: In the non-fans camp, some people think TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot; others find the ending [[{{Narm}} full of silly drama, contrivances and cheese]]; and then, some never got to watch it because of the ''Military K-On!'' thing.
