* UnfortunateImplications: According to this movie, Celts were basically orcs. Apparently the filmmakers forgot that the millions of Celts still living in Ireland, Bretagne and Wales might take offense. Also YouFailHistoryForever by pretending that they were a distinct culture in the late 12th century England.
** They were a distinct culture, just as the Scots, Welsh, and Irish are today. The failure is in claiming there was a group of people known as "Celts," as opposed to one of the more specific groups.
** Also forgotten is that, by the 13th century, none of said groups were known for wearing war paint (or for that matter, going into battle with only fur or bare-chested). Such cultural military bravado had been out of style for centuries in Western Europe (for mercenaries and professional soldiers, at the very least).

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The movie was a complete success in Spain, and it appears on television at least once a year with pretty good rates. It helped the fact that it got a SuperlativeDubbing which eliminated the weirdness of Costner NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent while maintaining Alan Rickman's HamAndCheese intact (although it had a couple of instances of BlindIdiotTranslation).

** YMMV, of course. Some of us found Blessed to be so subdued he wasn't recognizable!

* NewerThanTheyThink: Rumor has it that the reason this film borrows several elements from RobinOfSherwood (including the Moorish Merry Man and a dose of Celtic mysticism) is that the writer hadn't done enough research to realize that Robin of Sherwood had invented those bits, and thought they were standard parts of the legend.

Moving to sub-pges.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: No matter what your opinion of this film, most agree Rickman's hamtastic sheriff is glorious to behold in pretty much every scene.
** Friar has this when he [[spoiler: shoves the bishop out the window, delivering a Pre Mortem One Liner.]]
** Azeem's RousingSpeech to the people of Nottingham after the interrupted hanging also fits this.
* CrowningMomentOfFunny: The Sheriff is storming around Mortianna's quarters, flailing a whip at the walls, and ends by picking up a knife and stabbing several pieces of raw meat on a plate. Mortianna's response: "Something vexes thee?"
** This outburst from the Sheriff:
-->Nottingham: Cancel all the kitchen scraps for the lepers, no more merciful beheadings... and call off Christmas!
** Basically, any scene with the Sheriff is this or a [=CMOA=].
** CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming: When the kid comes up and asks Azeem, "Did God paint you?" MorganFreeman laughs and layers the charm on double-thick as he explains it's a certainty, because "Allah loves wondrous variety." The smile the kid gets could melt anyone's heart, especially since she's just about the only person in England to treat him as a normal guy so far besides Robin.
