* HilariousInHindsight: GaryOldman played [[Film/HarryPotter Sirius Black]] who can morph into a big black dog. In this movie he fights a giant black wolf that is also a person that can morph. Not to mention that Sirius is close friends with a werewolf.

* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: Soloman's story about the first werewolf he killed sounded like it would have been a pretty awesome movie in its own right.

* RetroactiveRecognition: Kacey Rohl of ''[[Series/{{Hannibal}} Hannibal]]'' as Prudence.

* MarySueClassic (or possibly PuritySue): The title character seems to posses no flaws other than being braver and more adventurous than all the other girls (who seem to only exist to be jealous of her or to depend on her) and is even hated by another girl simply for being "too good."
** She seems to be unanimously regarded as the prettiest girl in the village even by people who don't like her (usually because they're jealous of her beauty).
*** In fact the only reason any one (any woman any way) ever seems to dislike her is because they are jealous. The only reasons men ever seem to dislike her is because they want her and can't have her, or because they're doing something wrong and worried she might expose them.
** She also seems possessed of nearly supernatural intuition, she seems to know the secrets of some other characters just by looking at them.
*** although that may be related to the supernatural power we know she does have...
** Her clothes are also prettier and more brightly colored than all the other girls in the village (even before she gets her iconic red hood) and she and her two love interests seem to have access to grooming technology (like hair gel) that did not exist in the time in which the film is meant to be set, while the appearances of all the other characters remains fairly historically accurate.
** Valerie is also the only young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes in he entire village and this was intentional, all the other actors and actresses in the film ether had brown eyes, or were required to wear brown contact lenses.

* [[spoiler:StrawmanHasAPoint]]: [[spoiler:Which [[TropesAreNotGood the film actually concedes with Father Solomon about]]. [[TearJerker The Claude incident]] and [[KnightTemplar general zealousness aside]], a lot of what he says about the wolf is accurate.]]

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: ''Literature/{{Twilight}} haters aside, there were some people who say they wouldn't have minded a straight hollywood version of the fairytale rather than the ''Twilight'' knockoff.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Valerie's mother. Remember her advice to Valerie about learning to love the person you're arranged to marry? Though this is more understandable by the end, when [[spoiler:this resulted in her daughter and lover getting killed]]. She doesn't want Valerie to make her mistake.

** Similarly all the other characters seem incredibly preoccupied with her; following the death of her sister, her mother barely mourns and seems more concerned about the condition of her remaining daughters love life than with the fact that one of her children has just died. One of her love interests also looses his father (his fathers death could even be construed as being her fault) and yet he seems more upset about the fact that she doesn't want to marry him then about his fathers death.Similar instances occur all throughout the film.

** She seems to be unanimously regarded as the prettiest girl in the village, he friends are made insecure by how pretty she is and her enemies only hate her because they're jealous of her beauty and general perfection.

** She also seems possessed of nearly supernatural intuition; a few times in the story a character would have a secret that they had been keeping for years and that even their family members didn't know, and Red-Sue would ether conveniently stumble upon it, or somehow guess it (seemingly just by looking at the character.)

* MarySueClassic/PuritySue: The title character seems to posses no flaws other than being braver and more adventurous than all the other girls (who seem to only exist to be jealous of her or to depend on her) and is even hated by another girl simply for being "too good."

* FanDisservice: Roxanne stripping for Father Solomon is prevented from being in any way sexy since she's almost in tears and is trying to make a bargain to have her brother released. And Solomon finds this [[DudeNotFunny funny]].

** Roxanne herself. After her brother is arrested she offers to pay Father Solomon and starts to strip for him only for him to laugh at this. [[spoiler:She's forced to out Valerie for understanding the wolf and it turns out her brother died anyway]].

** Roxanne herself. After her brother is arrested she offers to pay Father Solomon and starts to strip for him only for him to laugh at this. [[spoiler: She's forced to out Valerie for understanding the wolf and it turns out her brother died anyway]].
